Good Sunday, everybody. Scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to be the name of the weather game out there today. The on and off boomers will soon be accompanied by some honest to goodness tropical feeling weather. I may even throw a heat index your way over the next few days. 🙂
Scattered showers and storms will develop again today. You know the drill…
Temps across western Kentucky will surge into the mid and upper 80s with upper 70s to low 80s across the east. The setup for Monday and Tuesday will find our air coming straight out of the western Gulf of Mexico…
Thermometers will hit the upper 80s to near 90 degrees as dewpoints surge into the low 70s. What does that mean for you? The sweat factor is going to be off the charts for this time of year. We will still have to watch for a few storms going up and that environment could lead to any storm blowing up pretty good.
An outbreak of severe weather will continue through Tuesday across the plains states and that will slowly work eastward. Wednesday and Thursday is giving us one of the few severe weather signals of the year here in the bluegrass state. That’s something to watch as we go forward.
A shot of cooler air will then blow into town by Friday…
That shouldn’t last too long as warm and humid air looks to fight back in during the Memorial Day Weekend. A few storms may join the pool and lake kickoff parties.
Have a great Sunday and take care.
Thanks, Chris. Looks like a generally good week. The start to Memorial Day weekend looks good, as well. The level in Lake Cumberland is rising, so, visitors should be happy. I just want a nice weekend, since I am actually off! Have a great Sunday, everyone.
The cold cutoff low is out of the picture now, warm is here to stay, it’s about time, thanks for your updates Chris!
Must admit I did not expect a “meh” winter and certainly not a “meh” spring to follow suit…. a “me” summer for the trifecta? Fall by definition and average is usually “meh”, so not counting it. Just the three usual “action” seasons for this area.
On a positive note, “meh” is much better than “Yikes!!”.
Wow you can feel the humidity first thing when you walk outside! Just earlier it was a cool 72 degrees, seems nice but with dew points upper 60’s to around 70 doesn’t make it feel comfortable anymore. I hope this isn’t a very humid summer even though temps may be below average.
Cumulonimbus cloud development just to the south of Richmond, towards Berea—also a smaller gray cloud overhead here on the south side of town. Storms may develop from these.
Lots of flash flooding in the Hager Hill area of Johnson County this afternoon…..did this happen in other areas as well?
