Good evening, folks. Cold winds are blowing across the Commonwealth as we get set for a light snowfall to work across the state late Saturday and early Sunday. This will cause travel issues for much of the Commonwealth and surrounding areas.

I fully expect a Winter Weather Advisory to be issued and had hoped one would have already been put in place. It’s the busiest travel weekend of the year and a lot of people are planning return trips tomorrow and Sunday so giving them as much notice as possible is key. I say it all the time, but people only pay attention to headlines. They don’t read discussions and technical stuff and the exclusive weather research we’ve done through Gray Media shows this to be the case nationwide. This is why I’m such a stickler for headlines that get the attention of the people we serve.

In terms of the actual forecast, I’ve only made cosmetic changes to the New Call for Snowfall…

I’ll keep updating this tonight and then put out the Last Call for Snowfall early on Saturday.

We have the potential to see an overachieving band of snow embedded within that 1″-2″ forecast, but that’s going to be tough to pinpoint. Some of the forecast models are seeing this, but the vary on where to put it.

The latest HRRR is likely a bit too far south with the overall system…

The NAM fam of models is also seeing this overachieving band…

The GFS is sniffing it out as well…

The RAP has been suggesting this for the last several runs and has now become more in line with the overall track of the system…

I’ll have a full update for you guys later tonight. I leave you with the tools you need to track any leftover flake action this evening…

Have a great rest of your Friday and take care.
