Good afternoon, everyone. Light snow spreads across Kentucky later today into tonight and will cause travel issues in many areas. This is the first of two light snowmakers set to impact us over the next few days.

The Last Call for Snowfall tightens things up just a bit as I still expect sharp edges to show up with the accumulating snows. That opens up just a bit across southeastern Kentucky, though.

Here we go…

A Winter Weather Advisory is now out for much of Kentucky through early Sunday. You can see how this follows the northwest to southeast band of snow…

The forecast models are still about where we we’ve seen them in recent days with the Interstate 64 corridor being the favored area for the best snows…

The NAM fam brings more of southeastern Kentucky into play…

The RAP doesn’t as much, but it does focus the best snows along and south of Interstate 64…

After temps deep into the teens this morning, ground temps are coming way down and this means slick roads will be likely as the snow moves in. Travel issues are likely through Sunday morning in many areas. Church cancellations are a good bet and I suspect we have school closings on Monday in some of the usual areas.

Can we get some cancellations and delays for Tuesday morning? That’s an increasing possibility as another light snowmaker drops in from the northwest late Monday and Monday night…

That’s “up to an inch” type stuff, folks.

I will have updates later today so check back. Until then, don’t forget to click on our Kentucky Weather Cams to watch the flakes flying across different parts of the state. Here are your tracking tools for the first blast of winter…

Have a great afternoon and take care.
