Good afternoon, everyone. A round of light snow is pushing into Kentucky and will put down light accumulations into the overnight. This looks to be just enough to cause some slick spots to develop on roads.
My thoughts on this have not changed as the models have now come into line with what my Call For Snowfall has been showing all along…
Most models didn’t even bring the chance for a flake of snow into central and eastern Kentucky, but they changed with the morning runs. I always approach forecasting by looking at the pattern and saying, “this is what should happen with this setup”, then see if the models trend my way.
Check out the future radar from the Hi Res NAM…
The snowfall forecast from that run of the Hi Res NAM is seeing my local 1″ amounts…
So is the Short Range Canadian…
The GFS went from nothing to now something, but it’s still lagging…
The RAP has a generous swath of light snow…
Arctic cold wind chills settle in behind the light snow with single digit wind chills by Tuesday morning. That’s a big ole brrrrr.
Speaking of big ole brrrr’s… A strong arctic front crosses the state late Wednesday and should bring a some rain to snow showers as it crosses the state into early Thursday…
Winds along and ahead of this front will be strong and may generally reach 40mph-50mph with gusts…
This is a major temp crash showing up behind this front. Check out the Short Range Canadian temps from 6am through 7pm Thursday…
If there’s any moisture on the roads from rain and snow showers ahead of this plunge… It might get icy in a few areas.
Wind chills are brutal for Thursday…

I have your tracking tools including our Kentucky Weather Cams to watch the flakes flying across different parts of the state…
