Good afternoon, everyone. Arctic front number one is crossing the state today, bringing much colder air with it. Arctic front number two arrives Tuesday with some light snow and even colder air. All of this leads us closer to another very harsh winter pattern that gets started this weekend.
The front out there today isn’t providing us with much moisture, but a pocket of light snow and flurries may show up across the east. Here are your Kentucky Weather Radars to follow along…
Temps are dropping from northwest to southeast through the day with wind chills diving. Wind chills tonight may go below zero for some areas. This animation starts at 7 this evening and ends at 8 Tuesday morning…
That second boundary has a little better shot at producing some light snows as it races through Tuesday afternoon. You can see this on the HRRR Future Radar…
Actual air temps may drop below zero by Wednesday morning, especially across the northern half of the state. The HRRR takes those wind chills way down there tonight and early Wednesday…
Temps will rebound a bit by Friday into Saturday as we get set for another MAJOR arctic attack to move into our region. This looks to take up residence across much of the country with a pattern that’s giving me February 2021 vibes.

Each model run handles all this differently and that’s to be expected.
Here’s the GFS…

I’ll have the latest on WKYT-TV starting at 4pm and I’ll drop by for another KWC update this evening. Have a great rest of your day and take care.
