Good Sunday, everyone. The first week of July has been a heck of a weather week here in Kentucky. Record amounts of rain and flooding have been common across the state. Rounds of showers and storms continue to move across the area today bringing a renewed high water threat for some.
The conveyor belt of flooding rains from the Gulf of Mexico will slowly shut off later today. That’s the good news. The bad news? It’s not going to shut down our chances for showers and storms as we have plenty of action for the upcoming work week.
The storms of today will be more prominent across the eastern half of the state. That’s where the flood threat will be highest for today.
Scattered showers and storms will be around Monday into Tuesday and these will have the capability of putting down more heavy rain. A few could be on the strong side. The flow from Tuesday through Friday will be one that can deliver us additional rounds of storms from the northwest.
To make matters even worse, many of the medium range models are developing a nasty upper level low and spinning it right on top of us…
Guess what that would bring? If you said more rain and cool temps… you’re a winner!

Moral of the story… we have a lot of rounds of rain and storms to go through over the next few weeks and likely through the rest of summer.
Have a great Sunday and take care.

Geez, Chris. This is beginning to sound like the never ending story! Got up this morning to find almost 2.5 inches of rain in the gauge, and we have been lucky here. Not nearly as much as other parts of the state. Overall we have has about 4 .7 inches at my house. Woke up this morning to a little sunshine, which is very nice. Going to enjoy it while it lasts. Have a great Sunday, everyone, and thanks, Chris for keeping us safe!
I am loving it- my gardens have never looked better mid-July and it’s still cool enough in the early hours to get stuff done.
I don’t think I have had to water anything except new plants this whole season!
This is by far the most enjoyable spring and summer since I moved here in ’07.
That said I do live on top of a hill and realize that folks in low lying areas may not feel the joy I do, so sympathy to anyone experiencing problems.
my garden is soupy. I had to pull him up by his boots to get him out of the garden this morning
I will take this over last years summer anytime.
does this weather have any bearing on what might be to come for the winter? Like snow maybe?
Summer is not correlated to the winter. This winter could be the coldest, warmest, snowiest, or driest
