Good Friday, friends. The first weekend of August is kicking off with a cold front sweeping into the bluegrass state. This front will bring a half and half forecast for the next few days. This is a familiar theme with fronts working across the region this summer and it shows no signs of changing over the next few weeks… at least.
Highs today will top out in the 80-85 degree range for many with a few higher readings in the west. Clouds will roll in by the end of the day and northern Kentucky runs the risk of a shower or storm by the evening. The best threat for showers and storms will roll in for Saturday as our cold front sinks southward…
Showers and storms will rumble southward into Saturday night and a few may hang tough into early Sunday in the south. Much cooler air will move in behind the front with upper 70s for highs Sunday and Monday. Lows will drop back into the 50s.
Another surge of cool air moves our way by the middle and end of next week. Showers and storms will develop ahead of this next round of below normal air. That below normal air looks to continue into the middle of the month as the jet stream continues to take a dip across the eastern half of the country…
Make it a great Friday and take care.
My flowers are so spectacular this year that they need a bit of extra water. Rain is needed, believe it or not. Great summer!
Question: Chris said on the news the other night that August is the month of foggy mornings. Why is that?
How did the folklore of every foggy August morning meaning a snow in winter come about?
I thought you said that if people asked for the fall/winter forecast that you would tell us about it? I have seen plenty of people ask you, including myself, but still not a hint. Would you please tell us oh might weather dude? I love your blog. Thank you for all your hard work. I read it everyday.
Well, we didn’t set a rainfall record for today. This is the 81st anniversary of Lexington’s all time rainiest day. Over 8 inches fell on this day in 1932. Wow!
