Good Friday, folks. The weather of the past few days has been nothing short of amazing for the middle of August. While we keep the cooler than normal temps for a few more days, we will increase the humidity levels. That will help fuel scattered showers and thunderstorms as we head into the weekend.
A few of those may get going today… especially across the southern half of the state. Regional radar will be tracking the action…
Temps today will mainly hang around the mid and upper 70s for afternoon highs.
The threat for showers and storms will increase as we head into Saturday and Sunday. That’s when some moisture from the Gulf of Mexico joins the party. We may also be dealing with a developing tropical system that takes aim at the northern gulf states. The future radar from the NAM shows the storm threat around here and the possible tropical troubles…
The wild card will obviously be the possible tropical system in the Gulf. If it does develop and roll in the direction the NAM is saying… it could easily mean higher rain chances around here early next week. Here’s the latest from the National Hurricane Center…
Regardless of the tropics… a warm and muggy setup looks to be with us next week…
The heat still looks to stay to our west, but it will get close enough to give us a shot at a 90 before the month is through. Believe it when you see it, though. This is not the summer for anyone to be forecasting hot weather around here.
Have a great Friday and take care.
We look to be in an almost doughnut hole withe cooler temps. It will be warmer in the great lakes and upper Midwest than here. I wonder when the first smack of cool air will hit us with highs in 60’s and lows in 40/30’s.
Probably mid-sept (ish) is typical……..but with this crazy year……who knows
30’s are unusual in September. We had them last year. Average first freeze is Late October.
If we can have 40’s in July and August, then 30’s are certainly possible in September if this pattern continues.
