Good Wednesday everyone and thanks for dropping by the blog. Temps hit the low and mid 90s for many areas Tuesday and the hottest weather is yet to come today into Thursday. That’s the bad news. The good news is the heat wave will break by the weekend and we may actually get in on some showers and thunderstorms again.

Today’s temps will hit the middle 90s in a lot of areas. Sunny skies will continue to rule the region as our heat dome continues to rule the eastern half of the country. This brought record highs up and down the east coast Tuesday as a lot of areas hit 100 degrees or better. The core of the heat will stay to our east and will actually slide south from the mid atlantic states into the Carolinas and parts of the deep south in the coming days. That is a very odd thing to see… a heat wave originate in the northeastern states and spread south and southwest into the dixie states.

Track today’s highs here…

Thursday will see similar temps to what we see today as skies should be mainly sunny yet again.

The changes begin Friday as a cold front moves through the region with showers and thunderstorms on the increase. Highs Friday will come down into the 80s because of clouds and storms. Here is what the GFS looks like for Friday evening…

Some of the showers and storms may linger into early Saturday before skies clear out by later in the day. This clearing trend will carry us into Sunday with weekend highs in the lovely 80s!!

The pattern into next week will feature a couple of cold fronts swinging into the area from the northwest. One should come around Tuesday with another by the end of the week. This means we the overall weather should feature closer to normal temps with better chances for showers and thunderstorms.

But it’s all about the heat right now. Don’t be shy about posting the temps from your part of the world. Have a great day… stay cool and take care.
