Good Sunday to one and all. We made it through our Saturday with a mostly dry day across the region as temps warmed well into the 80s again. The dry weather isn’t going to last as the threat for showers and storms will ramp up big time over the next few days. This includes Memorial Day as storms will likely become fairly widespread.
Today will feature more warm and humid weather as showers and storms begin to increase once again… especially across central and western Kentucky. Locally heavy rains will be possible and you can track the storms here…
Showers and storms will become widespread Monday and will likely lead to heavy rains that can cause local high water problems. A similar setup will carry us into Tuesday as well and you can see how this all plays out here on the GFS…
Monday Evening
Tuesday Afternoon
Again… watch the threat for heavy rains over the next few days.
Looking farther down the road…
– A surge of heat will move our way for Wednesday. Temps may surge toward 90.
– A VERY strong front will move in Thursday and bring the threat for severe storms with it.
– Once the front goes through… expect a big temp drop by Friday.
– The pattern next weekend should see a monster heat ridge setting up out west. The overall setup may lead to clusters of storms diving in our way from the northwest.
Have a great and safe Sunday and take care.
I. Love. Summer.
I do too! Ideally, for me, it would be around 80 with two to three days of storms each week (not everyday)
Weeks and weeks of heat and no rain or weeks and weeks or rain are not good.
Thanks Chris.
Wow, I loved the weather yesterday.
I dread seeing more rain coming, but God knows what’s best.
I hope everyone is enjoying Memorial Day Weekend.
Once a week would be fine with me. Just enough to water the crops.
Thanks for the update, Chris. We had a simply beaituful day here yesterday! Didn’t even have clouds in the sky until early evening. NO rain here yesterday, but we did get some on Friday evening.
Hopefully, the rain will hol doff until I get the burgers grilled tomorrow! Overall, it has been a beautiful weekend, for sure. And….what kind of temperature drop are you talking about for next weekend, after the strong front drives through here? what a tease!
To any Veterans who might read this blog..thank you so much for your service and sacrifice to this country. It is appreciated more than you know! Have a safe and happy Memorial Day,all.
Isolated storm over my house in northwest Fayette. Not really that intense, some wind and rain.
well i decided to go ahead and wash all 3 vehicles pushing my luck with the rain but still nada maybe i need to wash the riding mower lol
It would appear I picked the worst possible time to paint the front door.
I couldn’t agree more with Chris about next weekend’s set up. It looks like a derecheo type set up will get into effect.
Thursday night could be exciting to.
Ended up with a hair over 1″ of rain here in NW LEX.
I’m about 2mi north of the airport and they received none. Talk about isolated.
Yes, it was really very small and isolated. We had two pop up today. I don’t think we had an inch in my back yard, maybe 1/2 an inch. But when you’re dealing with little pop up storms it doesn’t surprise me if you got an inch a few driveways down from me.
needin some rain on my lawn, I seem to have missed out on all the rain showers here of lately…and my poor yard is dry and crisp already…
Yeah, it was a very hard downpour over here. .8″ on the first storm, the remaining .2″ on the second storm.
