Good Sunday everyone. Our day is off to a frosty start across much of the bluegrass state as the coldest air of the season does its thing. Let us know the weather where you live and tell us just how low your thermometer got. As always… we have you set with some tracking tools and an update on the pattern ahead.
We start things out with Breaking News. A new anti frost shield has been installed across the Interstate 65 Corridor from the Louisville metro all the way to the Tennessee border. This cutting edge technology, developed by the NWS in Louisville, has green thumbs in that region smiling from ear to ear as it is keeps the frost away. Check out the Frost Advisory map below to see just how powerful this technology is…

Yea… I am kidding about the anti frost shield. I was just trying to give them an excuse for that silly doughnut hole of a Frost Advisory.
Temps to start out the day will run in the low and mid 30s for most of the state. Areas with clear skies can hit 32 or a bit lower early this morning. The eastern part of the state may end up being a bit milder than everywhere else because of more in the way of clouds.
Follow the temps here…
Low Temps
Current Temps
Much of the region will be dry today with more clouds in the east, where a chance for some showers will be possible. Highs will range from the low and mid 50s for the central and east to the low to mid 60s in the far west.
A better chance for showers will work in from east to west late tonight into Monday as our closed low throws a weak disturbance our way. Highs for Monday will reach the low 60s east to 70 west.
Indian Summer is coming for much of next week with highs in the 70s from Tuesday into next weekend.
Don’t forget to post your low temps. Have a great Sunday and take care.
I have yet to figure out why you can’t simply put out a forecast. Why must you always try to down others? Just put out your forecast and let it stand. The people here are intelligent enough to figure out who is right and who is wrong. The Bailey in you shines through so well.
37, Foggy degrees @ 7am here in Barbourville
35° here at work in Shelbyville WITH FROST on the grass!! But, hmm…no advisory since we are in the “donought hole, lol. @conceited…this is Chris Bailey’s website. One would assume he has the right to run his site as sees fit, which would include the right to an opinion. Over the past couple years, the Louisville NWS has been known to go against the grain of other forecasters. Bottom line, it’s just an opinion, we all put our opinions on here from time to time. Plus, if it offends anybody that badly, they have their own right to leave Chris’ weather site. Have a great day all, and bring on the cold/snow!
35 with light frost on the roo ftops here in Somerset. Looks like a gorgeous day is in store!
35 degrees, calm winds, heavy fog here in Northern Morgan Co. (valley local)Looks like the sun is trying to peak out, but it looks like another lobe of clouds rotating back in later…
I live in the suburbs of Louisville exactly 7 miles from downtown Louisviille where I am sitting at 38 degrees and guess what??? I got frost, huh imagine that. Here’s something even more ironic the NWS office in Louisville has frost! But since dowtown Louisville does not have much in the way of frost I guess that means it did not happen. Louisville’s official temp is taken at the airport which absolutely makes zero sense all the concrete and planes coming and going of course the temp is going to be biasly warmer by a few degrees. NWS out of Louisville knows this but just in case they have forgotten let me remind them it’s called heat island effect!!
It’s 39 here in downtown Salyersville. I see no frost but I do see a glorious sun!
35 with frost in Lawrenceburg, but we weren’t in the hole…I guess they thought the frost would “magically” disappear and the Shelby/Anderson County Line
34F here outside of London, Ky. Fields, cars, and roof tops all white with frost. Very early for such a thing….
Exactly…this very topic has been discussed numerous times with John Belski. He agrees but doesn’t seem to think they will ever move the site elsewhere. It’s the very reason the snowfall can be so off…you can have 4″ on the east end & the NWS will list Lou with 1.2″ “officially”. But, don’t ever try to dispute their measurement. They get VERY offended when we question why the entire county miraculously has on average 1-3″ more of snowfall than the “official total”
Widespread frost on the farm this morning. Bottomed out at 36.
Personally I enjoyed the “anti-frost” shield comment about the donut hole in the frost forecast. But then, I have a sense of humor.
Here’s a dollar, go buy a sense of humor. I love it when CB injects humor into the site by pointing out silliness. Some people to need to lighten up and not be so serious. This blog is successful because it is informative AND fun.
The NWS in Louisville is located off the Gene Snyder Highway on Smyrna Road. Why the official temp is not taken at the weather office is well beyond me. I’m not going to bash the boys of the NWS Louisville office they have been pretty decent, but as of the last year or so they have dropped the ball on numerous occasions. There better than that and have proven that many times in the past.
southern laurel co. at 6:00 am it was 34 degrees
I agree….they do need to get back to where they used to be. I know, it is beyond me why the official weather is kept at the warmest spot in the city (SDF). Not sure anyone involved with decision making, really cares what any of us think.

Never dropped below 40 at my house in Louisville. Not a sign of frost anywhere.
Dear winter,
I have missed you dearly. The snow, and the snow, and more snow. This morning and the early frost was hopefully a sign of you being very bad. Give us snow lovers the big one this year please, we miss it much. And please make fall cooler as well, with snow in it too.
Sincerely and love,
tornadolarkin
I know it was really chilly at the bottom of Red River Gorge this morning!
