Good Wednesday gang. There isn’t a whole lot else I can say about the weather pattern we are in that I haven’t said already this week. It is basically more of the same for a few more days before some changes move in by the end of the week. The big questions is… how will those changes impact our Memorial Day Weekend?

Today will be a lot like what we had Tuesday. The only real difference is we will likely add a few degrees to the thermometer readings across the entire region. Low and mid 80s will be common again in the east while the west flirts with 90. An isolated afternoon shower or thunderstorm will be possible and you can track these “pop ups” here…

Moisture will gradually increase across our part of the world by late Thursday into Friday. The models are now trying to develop a cutoff low pressure just to our south Friday into the weekend. This should aid in the development of showers and thunderstorms. Here is the progression of it all on the GFS

Thursday Evening

Friday Afternoon

Friday Evening

Some locally heavy downpours will be possible during this time. Highs Thursday will be back in the 80s but will drop into the 70s Friday because of the widespread showers and storms.

What does all this mean for the weekend? I have been hawking a nice holiday weekend around here for the past few days. With the development of the low across the southeast… my confidence in a totally dry weekend is much lower. The threat for a shower or storm will have to be watched closely… especially across the south.  That is something we will watch for and update as needed in the coming days.

Have a great Wednesday and take care.
