Good Friday afternoon everyone. Severe thunderstorms are blowing up across southern and eastern Kentucky and these are working off to the northeast this afternoon. Large hail and damaging winds are the main threats with these storms and for that reason a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is now out until 8pm for much of the area. Here is a look at the counties uncluded in this watch…
The active warnings can be found here…
Track the storms on radar…
Torrential rains will also be possible with these cells so please keep an eye on the potential for local high water issues. I will be updating the blog as much as I can and will be sending out updates through twitter… follow me @Kentuckyweather . These updates can also be seen in the top right hand corner of this blog.
Take care.
These storms look like classic hail storms, so watch out for that.
yep and RAIN, HEAVY RAIN and HAIL.
I thought you weren’t going to post again until next winter?
Very surprised that cell moving from Casey into Pulaski county isn’t thunderstorm warned…
Severe T’storm Warning for Monroe and Cumberland counties until 1:45 Central time.
Watch out in Lily and Keavy… storm moving your way looks to be putting down hail according to Radar. Same for cell moving towards Eubank in northern Pulaski Co.

WoW! Chris Tweeted about EGG SIZED hail! Amazing.
Cell moving near Erose in Knox county likely has 2″+ hail in it. VIL signatures are darn near off the chart.

Hey Chelle! It’s a good thing you clarified your statement about loving a good storm! I can’t understand why we weather lovers can’t love all weather without someone jumping down our throats! LOL!
