Good Saturday once again… I wanted to drop by for a very quick update as the Storm Prediction Center has included parts of southern Kentucky in the slight risk area for severe storms. Here is a look at the all inclusive severe weather map from the SPC…
I will be away from my computer for much of the weekend but will update as much as I can and will update through Twitter.
Take care.
Previous Update
Good Saturday everyone. The weather across the state has been very active over the past few weeks and that overall pattern looks to continue. We will get somewhat of a break today for a lot of the region… but showers and thunderstorms will be working back into the region for the second half of the weekend into early next week.
The storms that blew up around here Friday were primarily large hail producers. The boomers also put down a whole lot of water in a short time in a few spots leading to some flooding problems yet again. This has been the theme of May and is something that we will have to be concerned about again with the next round of wet weather.
The front that caused all the ruckus Friday will barely get to our south today as low pressure develops along the boundary to our southwest. This will give our southern and western counties a shot at some showers and storms once again today… especially in the afternoon and evening. The northern half of the region should remain dry today as cooler and less humid air works in. You can watch today’s tale of two weather worlds on regional radar…
Deeper moisture will funnel into the area for Sunday leading to scattered showers and thunderstorms across the entire area. Here is how the NAM sees Sunday afternoon…
As mentioned earlier… low pressure that develops to our southwest Saturday will slowly roll our way by Monday. This should lead to widespread showers and storms and these could put down more heavy rains that could lead to some flash flooding concerns.
NAM Monday Afternoon
Cooler and showery weather will follow the departing low pressure for Tuesday and Wednesday. I am already looking toward the end of next week and another possible low pressure to bring more showers and storms our way.
Have a great Saturday and take care.
