Good Saturday everyone and welcome to the weekend. I want to start out by saying it was good to meet with several of our bloggers who were out and about at Hillbilly Days in Pikeville. I’m just glad some folks are reading this!

A cold front moved in here right on cue Friday evening bringing a line of showers and a few thunderstorms. These did not bring a ton of rain with them… but it was good to see something actually falling from the skies again. Now comes the chilly air that should bring frosty conditions into the entire region later tonight.

Any morning showers across the south will be scooting on out of here pretty quickly. Skies will become partly sunny today to go along with gusty northerly winds. Those winds will usher in some very cool temps that will struggle to get to 60 in many areas.

Track the near real time temps here…

FROST LIKELY Sunday Morning! Readings will drop into the low and mid 30s meaning green thumbs should be on guard and take all precautions to our very early season blooms. Brrrrr!

The rest of Sunday will be chilly… even with more sunshine. Highs will be back in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Early next week will see temps inching closer to normal with more sunshiny skies. It is toward the middle and end of the week that readings may spike for a few days ahead of a storm across the plains. There is a bit of disagreement on how quickly this storms ejects out and spreads eastward. The slower this thing is the warmer it can get. The faster it bowls east… the quicker another chilly shot of air moves in. One thing is looking more likely and that is a wetter period may be trying to set up. That isn’t saying much considering how dry it has been the past month or so.

Have a great Saturday and take care.
