Good Wednesday everyone. The weather has been the same for so long that we have decided to put the blog on autopilot for a while. Feel free to move about the cabin as the flight attendants bring your bag of peanuts and beverage of choice… no one said this was first class. That just wouldn’t be our style here on the blog.
The actual weather sure has made it seem like we have the autopilot going as there simply has not been much to talk about. That trend will continue for a few more days before we get a little action by the start of the weekend. Here is how it all shakes out…
– Today will be another great day. Temps will me mild to warm with readings ranging from the upper 70s east to low 80s west.
– Thursday will be the warmest of the week with everybody seeing 80s with more sunshine.
– The weather changes kick in on Friday as a strong cold front dips in from the northwest. The day will start windy and mild as temps quickly soar toward 80. A line of showers and storms will dip into the region from the north and northwest by late in the day into the evening hours. The later in the day the storms arrive and the more sun we get ahead of them… the better the risk for some severe weather.
You can see the timing of the showers and storms here on the GFS…
Friday Evening
Friday Night
We REALLY need a healthy line of thunderstorms to come through here to bring us some rain. I think we would trade some minor severe weather for some decent rains at this point.
A few leftover showers could be with us to start the day Saturday… especially in the south. The big story over the weekend will be the chilly air that moves in. Highs may struggle to get much past 60 for both Saturday and Sunday. The threat for frost will be with us as we roll into Sunday and Monday mornings as readings dip into the low and mid 30s.
The second half of April continues to look much cooler than the first half. That pattern should mean much better chances for rain as well.
Have a great Wednesday and take care.
yea the dome for me is long dead, never did i think i would live in ky and see 21 inch snow cover but here along the river i did indeed! btw airplane is the most halarious movie ever!!!
It would be funny if this Sept (one of the driest months here) turns out to be super wet since April has made up for it.
That could easily happen this year given the forecast for tremendous tropical activity. We could have the remnants of several storms pass over us in September.
I am ready for April to be done so that we get away from this stupidity of up and down temps.
Since April is statistically one of Lexington’s driest months of the year…I’m not going to worry yet.
BUT…if May continues this dry streak, then it’ll be time to start dreading the “D” word.
thanks, Chris. I know you probably get tired of hearing this from me, but I knew we had another good cool spell to come…..dogwoods are in full bloom. Mom always told me that when the dogwoods bloom, a cold spell is coming. Dogwood winter. I am going to Keenland Friday, so I hope the weather holds off until at least late afternoon. (Never been before. Looking forward to it!) But I will agree, we definitely need the rain. Here’s hoping!
Chris, I like you thoughts on better chances for rain in the coming weeks.
Coffeelady, you will love Keeneland. It’s a beautiful place in the springtime, and the weather has been perfect for horse racing this year.
Thanks for share good post keep it up
