Good Monday everyone. Here is hoping each of you had a wonderful weekend. The weather certainly was nothing short of awesome and that trend will continue through the rest of the week. That said… some pretty big weather changes are lurking by the weekend that will try to take us into a cooler than normal pattern for a while.
Here is how the forecast shakes out…
– Today will see temps on par with what we had around the region on Sunday as sunshine remains.
– Tuesday will see warmer air moving in from the west as readings flirt with 80.
– Highs will hit the low and maybe middle 80s for the middle and end of the week. Winds will increase during this time as well.
– The best threat for some showers or thunderstorms will come later in the day Friday into the upcoming weekend. A strong front will approach the region from the northwest by the weekend. Showers and thunderstorms will be likely along and ahed of this front. The bigger news is what is coming behind the front… a change toward MUCH cooler temps.
You can see the progression of all this on the latest run of the European Model…
The overall look for the weather pattern around here for the last half of April is a much cooler one. That isn’t saying much since the first few weeks of the month have been blazing hot for this time of year. Regardless… the pattern is favorable for a couple of very chilly shots to come calling before the month is over. Moral of the story… our friends with green thumbs shouldn’t get too carried away with planting just yet.
Have a great Monday and take care.
Any thoughts on the odds of a drought this summer?
Ken that’s a question that’s on the minds of a lot of folks right now. Going from wet and cold straight into blazing hot and dry during the end of March/Beginning of April is something we haven’t seen here in a LONG time. Will be interesting to see how this leads into Summer from here…
How much colder?
I can’t remember going this far into April without having a single bolt of lightning or rumble of thunder. I don’t like severe weather at all. In fact, I get very nervous about it, but it does bring rain. We need rain!!
It was never really that “wet” this winter. It was so COLD that what snow we had was hardly the liquid equivalent of much rain. It seemed so I suppose because it was constant cold and overcast.
I saw several houses with the sprinklers running on my home from work today here in Lex. Don’t see that too often in April.
