Good Friday gang! The big weather change has taken place as much colder air has moved into the region and this may set some areas up for some frost and freezing conditions early Saturday morning. Once we get past this… it’s back into mild and even warm weather as we head into the rest of the weekend and next week.
Today will feature partly sunny skies across the area. Chilly northwesterly winds will keep our temps in the low and mid 50s for most areas. Winds will lighten up overnight into early Saturday. Combine that with some very dry air in place and clear skies and temps can really take a tumble. The eastern half of the state has shot at upper 20s to low 30s and we may end up with something like this…
Green thumbs… take all precautions!!
The rest of Saturday looks great as thermometers rebound well into the 60s under sunny skies. Sunday looks even better as the sunshine remains and temps warm into the 70s for a gorgeous spring day.
As the core of the heat tries to build in from the west early next week… we will have to watch for the potential of a few clusters of showers or thunderstorms rolling our way from the northwest Monday into Tuesday. You can see that here on the GFS for Monday evening…
The pattern next week actually looks to try to take on the “ring of fire” look as a big ridge sets up across the Mississippi River Valley allowing for thunderstorm complexes to form along the periphery. That is something that we will watch as well. Regardless… highs for the middle and end of next week may climb well into the 80s yet again. This time around… a little more humidity will get into the mix.
That is all you guys get from me for a Friday. Have a great day and take care.
We need some excitement in the weather. I feel like I’ve been living in southern California the last month.
Will the ring of fire keep the rain from getting to us? The 2/10ths we got in Bourbon County Thursday morning won’t last for long with the heat returning. Our yard is already cracking in spots. There will be no May flowers if we don’t get some April showers. 🙁
Thanks Chris! Sounds like a beautiful weekend is shaping up once again. Great for Keenland, but not for forest fires….Have a GREAT Friday, everyone!
The May flowers maybe messed up with the April freeze.
You know I was looking around the weather data for this year. Kansas City has had almost exactly as much RAIN as Lexington for the year to date; they are right at normal for rain for their area, yet even though we have had the same amount of year to date rain as KC, we are six inches below normal..But in reality, aren’t we equally as dry in both areas?
Mark, I think that may or may not be affected by the topography of KC, like soil types, etc, which may differ between here and there. The rate of water absorption on that type of soil may be slower than what we have here.
Local vegetation and wildlife also plays a small role in this, I would think.
But you’re probably right about being equally dry, nonetheless.
Okay, through rambling. 🙂
It’s obviously what I am looking for , very great information , 徵信社 cheer!
