Good Monday everyone. We are coming off of a wonderful weather weekend across the state and I hope you got a chance to take full advantage of it because this coming weekend could be very different. Before we get to that point… this week of weather looks rather mild and increasingly stormy.
A very weak system moved across the state overnight bringing some scattered showers. Those will be trucking it on out of here early this morning and you can follow their progress here…
Skies will quickly become partly sunny by middle and late morning allowing for a quick rise in temps. Highs will soar toward the lower 60s by this afternoon giving us a great feeling and looking day.
Tuesday may try to do that a little better in many areas of central and eastern Kentucky as thermometers make a run at 70! Out west… clouds and some showers will be rolling in keeping temps much cooler. Anyone will be fair game for a few showers by Tuesday evening into Wednesday. This happens as a SLOW moving storm camps out across the plains states. We will be on the eastern side of this through Friday meaning a southerly wind flow that will boost temps toward 60 or beyond through Friday. The best chance for showers and some thunderstorms will be Thursday into Friday as this low finally starts to move a little bit. A coastal low will begin to develop in the east this weekend and will bring more showers to us. It will also bring much colder air in here meaning we will have to watch for some wet snows at some point. You can see the progression of all this by looking at the European model…
Given the pattern I am seeing for the middle and end of March… I imagine another snowfall or two is in the cards before we can truly get into a spring pattern.
I am working on the late spring and summer forecast right now and will have that for you guys here in a few weeks.
Have a great Monday and take care.

Thanks again Chris. I hope you’re talking about snow in ohio or further not here in Kentucky! I’m in “go for spring” mode!
I vote we skip the “couple more snowfalls” and get right into spring, especially after the weekend we just had…:)
I noticed the models are still playing around with the big storm around the 14-21st time period as well…
ohh god TIM, if it snows 6 plus inches u be happy as a little kid on XMAS!!! cmon man u cant luv SNOW and turn ur back on it just like that!!
I like a MARCH SNOWFALL alot better than a JAN/FEB SNOW if i had to choose.
JEFF BRIDGES in CRAZY HEART!! awesome win for a GREAT ACTOR!!!
Be careful on bridges/decks/sidewalks….It’s 31 degrees in Menifee County, or at least where I’m at. My cars doors were even stuck and I had a thin layer of ice on the car. I was surprised!
About a week ago, the models showed snow for cky for the 10th. And now its going to be near 65 on the 10th,,,,My money is on that we don’t see no more snow (at least nothing to talk/worry about),maybe a snow shower(enough to cover ground)
Thanks Chris. It was a beautiful weekend- I took your advice and enjoyed it. Hope you did the same. 🙂
Past experience dictates that we are not over our snow chances yet. It has snowed here in April. But I don’t expect any snow we get to amount to much, which is fine by me. The songbirds were out in full force this morning singing up a storm. And I had a bunch of robins in the front yard and red-winged blackbirds in the pasture. A sure sign spring will be here soon.
Thanks, Chris! IT is certainly a beautiful day here in Somerset! OUr temp is now at 63 degrees, and blue sunny skies to boot! the weekend was very nice, too!
As for the end of the week….well, lets just say that I am NOT looking forward to that…I love snow, but, it is time for green grass to start showing, and trees to have little buds showing….ah well, we will take whatever comes!
Everyone go out and enjoy this beautiful day!
Well tried to post….got moderated. So I will just say this….
sunshine and 63 here at present. Beautiful day! Have a GREAT one, all!
I’m a snow lover, but after all this great weather, I am ready for SPRING! As far as I am concerned, the snow can hibernate until next winter.
I agree with you, Rolo. I’ve been a fan of Jeff Bridges for a long time and was happy when he won.
Beautiful day…Cut down and moved trees, fertilized lawn, brought out summer furniture, enjoyed the warmth and sun…In March ya have to take advantage of good weather days…..
Well, Spring is here.. Anyone else see that big tornado on the ground in Oklahoma?
what a day today! getting ready for spring now.
It was a wonderful day weatherwise here in southern ky..sunshine and 67* was the high..
Rolo…this wet snow day is just for You!!!…:) the 18z gfs for Friday March 19th…this storm continues to show up off and on, with snow for KY…
