Good afternoon, gang. Here’s a little different twist on your Super Bowl Sunday forecast…
Ok, so the last one is kind of a joke, But, you will get some snow Sunday night into Monday morning. 🙂
Smile a little bit, people!
Have a great rest of your day and take care.

What do u ride prelude?? I took the R1 around the block this morning
The bike in the pic is a 98 cbr 900 which i don’t have anymore. I have owned a 08 ninja 1000 and 07 gsxr 1000. Currently I have a 06 Cbr1000 it’s the rare factory blue and yellow paint job. A few aftermarkets, aftermarket yoshi pipe, chrome rims, chrome pieces around the engine, fender eliminate kit, flush mount turn signals give the bike a cleaner look. It’s been lowered a couple of inches.
I love that color….blue and yellow was the best color combo for that body…..my Yam is the blue and dark gray model
ummmmm thx for the update
Very funny. Made me laugh! Especially the last one!! It does always seem to never work out for snow. Well have a nice Saturday!!
Worst. Update. Ever.
That was supposed to have a little wink after it that didn’t go through… 😉
Fantastic post.
I will smile when day time highs start getting in the 50’s. lol
I’m think we’ve been “Snowballed” AC/DC
Chris you forgot Annie Lennox’s, “Here comes The Rain”
Enjoy the weather. It’s the only weather you got.
That’s what Bastardi says, and he’s right. Chris understands that too. Nice post. I’m ready for spring, but I’m not gonna get it. I’d settle for some 50s.
Bailey has officially moved over to Bubba’s Dark side team. Might as well turn this into a blog about when the misery will end and warm days will become consistent.
Bahahahaha
Long time reader. First time poster.
Had to comment to say…
I. Hate. Rain.
Especially cold rain.
Booooooo
Bring on lightning thunder tornados and hurricanes….
What about the all time great. Rain Drops Keep Falling On My head!

How about this twist
the Neil Diamond song ” Kentucky woman” she gets to know you.
switch woman with rain
the song would be Kentucky rain it gets to know you.
Thanks Chris. You knew that us followers needed something to smile about….and remember, rain makes corn!
priceless, just priceless! perfect post CB!
You forgot “Raining on Sunday”
Chris, you’re awesome! That was funny.
I just hope the little snow we do get is enough to give Fayette County a snow day on Monday. The kiddos sure are getting tired of not having any… and I know some teachers who agree. *sigh*
Well this sure was a tragic twist of events. I really dont understand why we ever get excited about anything the models are saying, whether consistent with others runs and models or not, until the 24-36 hour time frame. That is still ample time for folks to get prepared and avoids false alarms like this one the models gave us midweek where people get their emotions tied up in it.
We’ve seen this too many times to keep falling for it. As much as you say not to get excited about individual model runs, you posting them does get people excited and is why people flip out on you sometimes. Yes, they are mostly ignorant to the technicalities of the weather, but they got excited about it reading this blog.
Spot on OJ!!
That’s a twist on forecast! Thankyou CB!
Depressing. 🙁
The Beatles made a song called “Rain”..John Lennon said in an interview the song was about people moaning about the weather all the time..
Since it is going to be rain, any predictions as to how much? The system looks like it could put out a lot of rain. The mud is starting to get pretty deep around here.

Chris…on a serious note :). We are just about at the half way point of winter with nothing to show for most except moderate cold. Can you give your thoughts on how you think the rest of winter will play out. I think it is to early to give up as it reminds me of 1993, but not sure if we will ever get blocking to slow down the split flow.
Meteorological winter ends in four weeks. So, weather wise the transition to spring begins the first of March. Big snows are still possible, but chances go way down after Feb. Average highs hit 50 in SEKY in two weeks, so we are already on the warm up.
The meteorological seasons make more sense anyway. I don’t consider mid-June to be part of spring, but technically it is.
I agree 100%
Just wondering about this artic air behind the storm. In my area we only have 1 day in the next week with a high below 32.
I have 0 below 32. This will be like the arctic air rolo asked about but never got answered.
we don’t talk about things on here that are forecasted but don’t happen 🙂
Arctic air kept showing up on the long range models, but never really took hold this year. Had a couple of days in January that were cold, but didn’t go a whole week all month without at least one day hitting the 50’s.
I was just wondering about the so called brutal/bitter cold following this next storm. I know what few other cold days we had were few and far between and always dry.
I will preface this by stating the obvious… the winter weather experience across the Commonwealth has been diverse this season.
On Friday, WKYT ran a story with CB stating that Lexington is actually on it’s yearly average for snowfall this season! Additionally… in the wonderful conundrum that is weather; four weeks remaining of any season is a long time for something to happen.
As far as this blog, CB’s forecasting/posts, models, and attitudes… it’s all about managing expectations. I’ll be happy to see a few flakes fly either way…
If 0 inches is normal for a SEKY winter, then we are on average down here too. lol
Goldstar awarded for your use of Commonwealth.
Wasn’t what I was going for but I’ll take it. Guess all the practice policy writing has finally paid off! 😉
My thoughts are with you bobt! That’s a big’ole bummer!
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down
Haha haha I love it. The king looks good And elvis looks nice lol.Chris you are our weather King. I thought I would laugh about it cause crying doesn’t help. This most be a really north storm even my sister near Indy isn’t suppose to get alot.I had my 5 minutes of heavy snow yesterday lol. Don’t want to get spoiled.
i was wondering 17 years ago what was the average snowfall in south central ky or lex? Now compare that to the average snowfall we list today. Is there any end in site to dome.?
Poster Chris Mercer put up the sort of charts you’ve mentioned a while back. It was interesting to see that, outside of a handful of specific years over the last several decades, we historically didn’t receive much snow each year. Many years we received 1″ or less (officially). Even some of the years where a high total snowfall was seen was because of a single or a couple of isolated events and not a consistent and frequent pattern of snow.
Eye opening stuff, very perspective changing for those who bothered to read it. And as you can tell by the tone and subject of many of the comments here, very few posters actually did.
Love the post, Chris, especially the inclusion of Missy Elliott! Hopefully southeast Kentucky sees that big snow soon. (It just won’t be tomorrow / Monday, sadly.)
It’s Raining Again by Super Tramp
All fun aside, have a feeling we will not be doing the same for snow songs besides little scrappy snows.
Here’s old school, I Wish It Would Rain by The Temptations.
“Cause raindrops will hide my teardrops” . At least the tears of many snow lovers this season 🙁 .
Abstract of the telephone conversation my wife just had with her Mom:
Mom – “I can’t wait to move to Punta Gorda!”
Wife – “Is it supposed to get bad up there (South Haven, IN) again?”
Mom – “Can you believe it… another Winter Storm Warning… we weren’t even supposed to get any accumulation this weekend!”
Wife – “Yeah… I’m not telling Bill… I think that was supposed to be our snow?”
Mom – “Does it ever snow in Kentucky?”
Wife – “Nope.”
Me – “IT USED TO!!! You’re on speaker phone!”
For your viewing pleasure…
