Good Tuesday to one and all. A glancing blow of snow and arctic cold temps are dominating the weather across Kentucky today. What else is new, right? The cold continues through the final days of the month as we focus on the potential for another snow system to impact the region. More on that in a bit.

The next system to watch is coming from the southwest and will be have a lot more moisture to work with. The NAM continues to bring this bad boy a little farther north with each run…

NAM 2The Hi-Res run of the NAM is even more bullish on snow making it farther northward into Kentucky. Here’s the simulated radar from that model for Wednesday night and Thursday morning…

NAM 4

The famed northward trend is very evident on the NAM family, but does not show up on the GFS. Let’s see how all that shakes out with the models later today.

Regardless of that system… we get the arctic wave to bring some light snow into town later Thursday into Thursday evening…

NAM 3 Those kind of systems can be underplayed by the forecast models until they are right on top of you. With that much cold air involved… it won’t take much to create some snow around here.

I will have updates later today. Take care.
