4PM UPDATE
Thunderstorms are training across parts of northern and eastern Kentucky. This is generally east of I 75 and radar is showing some areas picking up more than 3″ of rain over the past few hours. Numerous counties are under FLASH FLOOD WARNINGs right now. Flooding seems like a sure bet in some areas so please keep a close eye on water levels. In addition to the flood threat… some of the storms are severe with damaging winds and hail possible.
I will post more updates as needed. Take care.
PREVIOUS UPDATE
Good Thursday afternoon everyone. Thunderstorms have developed across central and eastern Kentucky and many are putting down a lot of rainfall. Some of the storms have produced some severe weather across northeastern parts of the state as well.
Here are some radars to track the storms…
This next radar shows the estimated rainfall…
Keep an eye on area creeks and streams for the potential for flash flooding. If need be, I will fire up a live chat and will also be using Twitter to give updates on warnings and such. Take care.

I am interested in buying the GRLevel3 radar, I have downloaded the free trial, and have looked into purchasing it. Especially to use in my classroom, and at home. My question is, is this the best radar for the money? And Is the 79.95 a ONE time fee or do I have to pay that every year or 2? Someone let me know. Thanks Chris for the blog, you are awesome.
Sorry if this posts 2 times, the first one got sent to moderation.

NWS just gave a TS warning for SE Rowan county, where I live, and we had already had serious lightning, LOUD thunder, pea sized hail, sideways rain, and gale force winds. the storm had been going on for at least 20 minutes when the warning ws issued. so…
I am trying for the 4th time now to post what I wanted to ask. I am sorry if it repeats.

GR Level 3 is awesome, plain and simple. Best Radar program for the money, and it’s a one time fee.
jackson going to get clocked these storms are on a train track along the boundry one after another. the boundry extends west of 1-75 but there is a deeper cap in place. west liberty as well. another storm heading into estill.co.
Thank you, it truly is awesome. Sorry Folks for all the posts, I did not mean to overload the blog. We loads of thunder and lightning and the HARD rain just started.
I think the SPC has dropped the ball for Central and Eastern KY as Numerous Severe T-Storms and flash flooding have occured and not as much as even a Special Statement or Mesoscale Discussion.
Rain totals coming over 4″s on doppler estimates in some areas. Several flash flood warnings out right now. These storms are going to continue for the next couple of hours and hopefully should move on out by tomorrow mid morning.

We could use some of this rain about 20 miles west if you could send it this way. My grass and trees are already burning out.
Drove thru rain on 460 in Scott Co and then down Russell Cave. Worst driving experience of my life. Raining so hard that I couldn’t see more than 20 feet in front of my car. Multiple limbs in road. Sorry this is choppy but typing on my iphone while sitting in parking lot because I’m a chicken when it comes to lightening.
