Good Thursday everyone. I am fighting some internet gremlins tonight so I will keep this post as short and to the point as I can. We all know how hard that is for me to do! ![]()
Today will bring warm and humid weather back to the area and this will lead to some scattered showers and thunderstorms. You can track these boomers here…
As we have mentioned for the past few days… there is a chance some of the thunderstorms later today into this evening could be strong or even severe. Here is the latest all inclusive severe weather map from the Storm Prediction Center…
The models appear to be trying to slow this front up just a bit. This would mean the chance for showers and storms would stick around into part of the day Friday…
GFS Friday Afternoon
The weekend will start out on a hot note as we see temps Saturday around 90 or into the lower 90s under sunny skies. Winds will likely kick up later in the day ahead of a cold front that arrives on the scene Sunday with another round of showers and storms. This front may also be the beginning of a much cooler pattern around here.
The models are converging on a solution where we see a big cutoff low pressure across the lakes into the northeast. It is getting VERY late in the season for this type of setup, but the pattern is in love with it right now. Take a look at some of the model forecasts for the air upstairs…
GFS Tuesday
European Tuesday
If those models are correct… that would lead to some scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon hours and would give us a shot of cooler air. Could we see a day or two where highs don’t crack 80 as we close out June and say hello to July? It’s possible depending on exactly where the closed low sets up.
The folks from NASA released this great shot of a recent volcano eruption from Japan. The sky was overcast as the volcano blew it’s top punching a hole in the clouds…
That is a pretty sweet pic!
Have a great Thursday and I will have updates as needed on today’s storms. Take care.

Mornin’ Chris, and all. Barely 9 AM and already in the mid 70s here. HUmidity is on the rise, too. You can feel it in the air. Guess that means that storms are not too far behind.
Glad hubby got the lawn mowed last night.
Speaking of that, it really was not too bad out there. HOT, but with low humidities, not bad at all. (Better last night than Saturday!)
thanks, Chris. I’ll be watching the radars, and the blog, for updates. Have a gREAT day, everyone!
I just hope after us getting all the rain we don’t end up in a drought.
Hey, where’s Andy? He usually chimes in several times a day with his “strange” weather. I think his weather is special ordered for him only just right over his house, LOL. Where you at Andy? You OK?
Nice Volcano pic! Everyone have a great day, it’s a beautiful morning. Hope it stays this way!!!
So when can we expect to see storms around here? Early afternoon, evening, overnight?
Also, why is everyone hating on Andy? I like hearing about his crazy weather. It helps show that weather is very complex and can vary from town to town and even house to house. Plus its not like he is hurting anyone, just sharing his observation and opinions. That what this blog is for, right?
I only see one person hating on Andy. 🙂
Hey check out that massive storm directly over Chris’ house!!
everyone hating on Andy? Did I miss something while I was vacationing?
Really depends on where here is. Looking at the latest radar trends most of the showers are developing east of I-75 and moving south right now, but the RUC model is trying to develop storms later this evening from the Louisville area east.
No idea where our buddy Andy is :(.
