*****9:25pm Update*****
A new TORNADO WATCH is now in effect for parts of southern Kentucky until 1am. Here is a look at the counties…
Those counties match up with the last watch issued…
You can follow the warnings here…
Your radars…
Tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail are possible in and close to the watch area. In addition to the severe weather threat… flooding will be a big concern as these storms may drop another 1″-2″ or rain in a short period of time as they race eastward across the state.
Parts of Pike county in southeastern Kentucky have been hard hit by flooding from the afternoon storms. Some parts of the state have picked up 2″-3″ already today so it won’t take much to cause flash flooding. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is out for northern and eastern Kentucky this evening. Given the radar trends…. central Ky should be too.
I will update as I can and may take the blog live at some point so check back. I will also be using Twitter for updates. Take care.

WOW. THOSE STORMS ARE LOOKING PRETTY FIERCE. EVERYONE STAY SAFE OUT THERE THIS EVENING AND DEFINITLEY KEEP THOSE RADIOS HANDY AND AN EYE TO THE SKY.
THEY DO APPEAR TO BE WEAKING A BIT. THAT SURE IS SOME GOOD NEWS. ANYONE HAVE ANY THOUGHTS AS TO A FUTURE SEVERE T-STORM WATCH OR TORNADO WATCH POPPING TO THE EAST???
Evening, Chris. Looks like you and TG are both going to have a very busy evening. We got clobbered early this morning, and again this afternoon. NOw, it looks like its headed this way again, but this time, from the northwest.
Do you anticipate a tornado watch any farther eaast than it is now? Will be keeping an eye on the blog, and the radar.
Thanks Chris, for all you do. Everybody stay informed this evening.
by the way, Chris….since yesterday afternoon, we have had over three inches of rain at my house in central Pulaski County. I am sure that other parts of the county have probably had more, but that is our total at this time.
Our basement almost flooded this morning. I certainly hope this next round of storms don’t produce tornadoes or flooding!
Not currently in the tornado watch area, but will be keeping an eye out tonight to see if the watch is pushed further east [hopefully not]. One tornado warning for the week is more than enough for me. LOL!

Randy, from the looks of the radar, we may ALL see a good bit of rain shortly. That line is looking very mean and nasty.
You guys over there are in my prayers for everyone’s safety from the flooding, and everyone is in my prayers for safety from the severe storms that are moving in.
Chris,Mitch are we done with the heavy rain and storms tonight here in morgan co?
Marsha, more heavy rain and storms will likely hit parts of Eastern KY tonight. That line moving through Indiana looks like it will clip parts of eastern KY.
Man that looks like a hook echo in Adair Co now!!!! Anyone else see that?!!!!
I see a bow echo but not a hook echo. Weather Channel is reporting a 74 mph wind gust out of Glasgow right now.
thats where my mother lives is in Glasgow
right outside of belfry near stone which was hit very bad. although it was not as bad as last flood (well, not yet.)
well shane, or anybody, do you think any of these will hit pike co. and cause further flooding problems?
Yeah I see that, but look on the jackson radar chris has posted and look in north north central adair. Probably nothin or their would be warnings, but I see a hook echo, and look closely and you see rotation in it. What website can I go to and look at a map of the wind dynamics (directional)?
I’m keeping my eye on that cell Southeast of Louisville and the line extending into southern Indiana. Those would be the biggest threats for Pike Co. as of now, but with them being so far away it’s had to call at this point.
Thanks Shane our streams here can’t take much more water…..
I’m hoping those storms are going to continue to weaken as we go into the night with the heating of the day being gone now. Last few frames of the accuweather radar shows the storms looking less organized.

10-4 thanks shane!!
Showers to the north continue to weaken. I’m thinking eastern KY will be spared from more heavy rain tonight, just some scattered showers.
