Good Saturday, folks. Wow. That’s about all I can say about the heavy rain and flooding of the past few days. Record rains slammed the bluegrass state with some areas picking up more than a half a foot of rain. Things look to improve this weekend, but rounds of storms look to return into next week.
Highs on this Saturday will be in the 50s under a partly to mostly sunny sky. A chilly breeze will be blowing, but we do get the dry weather and that’s a wonderful thing.
Easter Sunday will start chilly with readings in the 30s for sunrise services. Those afternoon egg hunts look awesome with temps in the 60s as we hang on to more sunshine..
The threat for scattered showers and storms pushes back into the picture later Monday. This is a sign of things to come for the rest of the week. Each day looks to feature clusters of showers and thunderstorms across our part of the world…
That’s a pattern that can produce additional rounds of strong or severe thunderstorms to go along with more heavy rainfall. Something for us to watch as we roll forward.
The other part of this setup should be more toward your liking. Temps next week could make a run at 80 degrees…
I just want to say the SPC putting out tornado watches just because they can is becoming a joke.
Chris please tell me you don’t see anything next week like 2012 tornado in west liberty these storms scare me to death I hate them
The way it looks right now, I think we should be ok. That 2012 setup was very unique and something I don’t see happening again for a long time.
Thanks Chris. We were fortunate here as we did not get nearly as much rain. As usually happens to us with snow, it went north so for the most part we were spared the flooding that a lot of the state experienced. Today and tomorrow look gorgeous. Gonna take one day at a time? Have a great Saturday everyone and GO CATS!
80″s, now that’s what I’m talking about!
Wow, more rain. Saw some pretty amazing flood pictures from around the region yesterday. Hope we can avoid some of those things next week. But with heavy rains and the already soaked ground would need to stay alert.
Thanks Chris.
