Good Sunday to one and all! The weather is looking much better for the next several days and that has your friendly weather dude smiling.
I can finally catch up on a little R and R after a busy past couple of weeks.
Given the calmer weather, it’s time to go old school and break out the weather headlines!
1. Skies will become partly sunny out there today. Winds will be from the north giving us a well below normal temp day with many areas in the lower to maybe mid 60s.
2. LIGHT FROST THREAT TONIGHT AND AGAIN MONDAY NIGHT. Temps the next few mornings will dip into the upper 30s in some areas so take any precautions you need to since we are into the growing season.
3. Tuesday will see warm air rapidly return as thermometers head well into the 70s.
4. Wednesday through Friday will see the 80s return under partly to mostly sunny skies.
5. Something tropical or sub tropical is likely to develop near Florida this week. Whatever it is (Anna?) will head into the Gulf of Mexico where waters are actually running slightly above normal right now. This could get interesting and makes me feel pretty good about it after me alluding to a possible early start to the tropics last week. ![]()
6. If this thing develops in the gulf… tropical or not… it stands a good chance of bringing showers and storms to us at some point next weekend or early in the following week. Yep… that MAY include Memorial Day Weekend. This kind of setup so early in the season can lead to some slow moving systems that are loaded with tropical moisture. Keep that noted.
I will have some maps and a bigger write up for you later tonight so be sure to check back. Until then… have a great Sunday and take care.

Somewhere with all this nasty weather in and around Kentucky, there was not a single drop of rain at my house in Bourbon County. Not since Thursday morning, that is.
Today is the High Hope Steeplechase at the Kentucky Horse Park and the weather will be perfect. Have a great day everybody!
Hoping for no frost here. I already have my tropical banana trees out. Looks to be a nice week. Thanks Chris, for all you do.!.

Same here in Lexington. We got exactly 0.09 inches of rain. But as it stands we are still a bit above normal for the year. I’m just sick of dry hot summers. I hope that doesn’t happen this year. My yard finally looks good now, unfortunately things could dry out quick. Too bad for the folks in eastern KY with all the flooding. I’d take hot dry over that any day, as I’m sure they would too.
The frost advisory as of now is only for Richmond North that may change though
I went to Breathitt Co. today and could not believe what I saw. Those poor people have lost everything. It is a disater there and they can really use some help. I will be doing my part to help tomorrow.
Thanks for the update, Chris! It has really been a very pretty day, but we had high clouds until late this afternoon. I don’t think we will see frost this far south, but you never can tell in KY!
So, something tropical or sub tropical eh? Hmmmmm……Has to be sub tropical, as everyone knows that the tropical storm season does not start until June 1st! 😉
Glad that it is going to be a quiet week. Hopefully, we will get our new heat pump installed before it gets too hot! The cooler weather has been a blessing in that respect!
Hey, Andy Rose, have you heard anything from Tim? I know his surgety was scheduled for Friday. Just wondering how it went, if anyone knows….
Have a great Monday, everyone, and Chris, we’ll be counting on you to keep us informed on this system in the gulf that may be developing…
His wife Kim posted a few days ago saying surgery went well.
Hello, mate! I am totally accede to that way of assumption and everything connected.
