Good Monday everyone. Here is hoping each of you had one heck of a weekend and that the week ahead will be even better. We are heading toward the unofficial kickoff to Summer that is the Memorial Day Weekend. Don’t tell that to the weather though as the week is starting off on a FROSTY note.

Okay… not exactly those two, but you get the idea. A touch of frost visited the area this morning and will likely do so again Tuesday morning. This was something the blog touched on several days ago so you had plenty of warning it was coming. With record lows for this time of year in the mid and upper 30s in many areas… it might be a close call in some areas to start out today.
Here is a map showing the low temps from this morning from the various Kentucky Mesonet sites across the state…
Give their site a visit as they are doing a wonderful service to the bluegrass state!
Outside of the frost threat… the weather around here is kind of boring this week and no one will be complaining one bit. As a matter of fact… this will be the best week of weather this spring! Today will be a below normal one with temps only in the low to mid 60s again, but it will be mainly sunny. From there… it gets a whole lot better! Highs Tuesday will head into the mid and upper 70s with the low to mid 80s moving in from Wednesday into the coming weekend.
It will grow increasingly muggy during this time as well.
The main action in the weather world will be on something tropical or sub tropical trying to develop near the east coast of Florida. This would then cross the sunshine state and head into the Gulf of Mexico where it may develop into something that could eventually impact our weather.
Look at what the NAM does with this system…
Tuesday
Thursday Morning
The Canadian Model cranks this system and brings it toward Louisiana by Saturday…
After that… it does bring moisture from this system into our region by the later half of the holiday weekend…
Other than that… it’s a fairly calm pattern for a lot of people!!
That’s all I have… I’m ready for a Frosty now! Whose buying?
Take care.

40.4°F is where I bottomed out in Lawrenceburg.
Had a bit of frost in Wilmore, but it only bottomed out at around 40° on my front porch. My question is: Al Gore, where is global warming when you really need it?!
Florida could use the rain. I think I heard somebody on The Weather Channel say parts of the state are in exceptional drought.
Absolutely beautiful afternoon!! My personal definition of a perfect day!
Brrrr. Took my boy for a stroll and its cold outside! I like the 80’s better.
Take the winds down to about 5 MPH, and the temp. up to about 68 and then I would agree with you. 🙂
Good afternoon to all! We have a truely gorgeous day in progress here in Somerset. OUr morning low was 39.4 at the house, and I saw a little frost on the rooftops, but none on the ground, or on my plants!
Chris, I will not mind to see a few days of pretty weather. And if we can get MOST of the Memorial Day weekend in without it being a total soggy mess, then I will not complain. Hopefully, our heat pump will be replaced by then….
So, Wxman, it is 68 here now. Guess that makes it almost perfect! (But I agree, the wind needs to die down just a little bit!) 😀
And where are comments like that when we are seeing hot weather? 😉
Went to Tim’s today he is very very sore and will be on his back for the next 3 weeks no activity at all.
I am very happy!
