Good Tuesday afternoon gang. I wanted to drop back in to say…

This is a regional holiday in Mexico that is often celebrated here in the states as well. I am convinced the celebration here in the USA was first observed by college kids looking for yet another excuse to party.

On a side note… RIP Dom DeLuise!

The actor and comedian passed away last night at the age of 75. He was a funny guy and I loved him in the Cannonball Run Movies.

That is it for what is truly a random post from me! My earlier “serious” weather post is below so check it out. Have a good afternoon and evening and take care.

Good Tuesday gang and thanks for dropping by the blog. We are coming off a period of very heavy rains and flooding across much of the region and the last thing we need is more of the same. Unfortunately, it looks like that is a real possibility this week with several chances for rain and storms that can cause more high water concerns.

Most of the region picked up form 1″-5″ of rain over the past few days with the greatest concentration across southern and eastern Kentucky. This is the same area that has a chance at picking up on some more showers today. These should not be heavy enough to cause any flood concerns today… but they will act to keep the ground soggy. Here is the radar to track the scattered showers…

As we head into the day on Wednesday… a cluster of rain and thunderstorms will be forming to our southwest in Tennessee as a wave of low pressure gathers steam. This will lift northeastward toward us and could bring a big complex of rain and storms through here that would be accompanied by heavy rains. The NAM and the GFS are both beginning to pick up on this…

Those totals are only through Wednesday Night. The NAM is the farthest northwest right now and given how this last round of heavy rain managed to sneak farther northwest… we cannot discount it. Regardless… both models show at least an inch of rain being possible across our region.

Unlike the last heavy rain event… this system should actually be able to produce thunderstorms which may aid in the overall flash flood threat. Some of these storms may become severe as well and the Storm Prediction Center has us in a risk for severe storms…

SPC Day 2 0600Z Outlook Categorical

Just another thing for us to watch!

Beyond Wednesday… more rounds of heavy rain and storms will likely develop Thursday into the coming weekend. This will continue our flood threat and severe weather threat.

Overall, this is a very stormy pattern and is one that we REALLY need to keep a close eye on over the next several days. The blog will be doing just that so keep checking back with us.

Have a great Tuesday and take care.
