Good Sunday evening gang. The heavy rains are finally beginning to push into parts of Kentucky and the overall coverage will increase tonight and early Monday. Southeastern Kentucky is the main area of concern and for that reason a FLASH FLOOD WATCH has been issued. Here is a look at the counties included…
Parts of southeastern Kentucky have already picked up more than an inch of rain with an additional 1″-3″ of rain possible into Monday. This would be enough to cause some flooding problems… especially for those areas that get in on repeat thunderstorms. Farther north… around and inch of rain can be expected during this time. Watch the radar light up with rain and thunderstorms…
I will update the blog as needed and will also put out updates through twitter. You can sign up to follow me in the upper right hand corner of the blog sidebar.
Take care.

not much rain here yet we got plenty last night but not alot so far tonight looks like alot may pass by here
We are getting pounded here in Laurel County. Moderate to very heavy rain since 9:00. Still looks like another hour or two of moderate rain to go followed by light rain. I would not be surprised to see rainfall amounts of 3-5″ around here. Not sure of any flash flooding reports. The blog is pretty much dead, but if any locals are on, give us your report.
Over 5 inches estimated so far in parts of McCreary county from Doppler Radar.
Highway 472 were I live at in Clay County is covered in water in many parts. The highway or firedepartment has the road blocked off in areas that are flooded the most. This is actually the highest I have ever seen the water in this area.
