Good Monday afternoon everyone and welcome to a wild next few days of blogging! A developing winter storm has us directly in it’s sights and will begin to impact the state with snow and ice later tonight and this will last through Wednesday. Significant snow and ice accumulations are likely.

Since I am going to be putting out MANY updates through the day and the entire event… I don’t want to spend too much time on any one update. Please remember that I will be working as well this evening so I am going to be one busy dude handling all the tv stuff… this blog and my work blog. BTW… the folks at the station are going to have me in a Live Chat on WSAZ.COM later this evening so you may want to go check that out if you get the chance.

Here is a look at the latest warnings…

It’s crazy that Wilmington and Charleston have not upgraded to warnings, but that should be coming later this afternoon.  The other aspect of this system will be the threat for VERY heavy rains across parts of southeastern Kentucky. This is the area of the state that has the best chance of seeing temps go above freezing for a period Tuesday afternoon and Evening. Because of this threat… A FLOOD WATCH has been issued for some counties…

That’s an area of the state that is likely to have a 3 pronged attack with snow and ice to flooding rains to heavy snow. A check on the latest model runs show things to pretty much be on course as we outlined them with my last blog. The defining lines of sleet/freezing rain/snow/rain won’t be able to be pinned down until we actually see what’s going on during the storm.

Here is the NAM Snowfall Forecast

Again… take those with a grain as it’s all about where all the lines set up!!

Here is what the latest maps from the HPC shows…
