Good Friday, everyone. We’re rolling our way into a huge weekend on a great weather note. Today’s weather is “Chamber Of Commerce” type stuff with gorgeous skies and crisp temps. What comes after today may cause some issues for all the festivities for Halloween.
The Halloween forecast is always important, but this year is magnified tenfold because of the Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland in Lexington. Throw in a border battle between Kentucky and Tennessee, and it gets ramped up another notch.
Life is all about timing and so is the weather when it comes to Saturday’s showers.
It appears central and eastern Kentucky will get through much of the daylight hours with just clouds on the increase. Western Kentucky will see showers moving in early in the day with that action slowly heading eastward. The latest NAM shows rainfall numbers going up across the central and east Saturday evening into the wee hours of Sunday morning…
The GFS is a little quicker with a band of light rain, but waits until later in the night for the best threat for showers…
For those planning on going to any of the big events going on Saturday afternoon or evening, all I can say is to take the rain gear. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, especially in a situation where an hour or two in the rains arrival makes all the difference in the world.
Showers will continue into Sunday as our storm system continues to push across the region. A few showers may carry us into Monday before temps take off. 70s are on the way for the middle and end of next week as a serious case of Indian Summer breaks out.
The setup should throw a strong cold front our way by the end of the week into the following weekend. Showers and thunderstorms could usher in a nice shot of chill.
If you’re looking for a little fun from the looooong range GFS, look no further than two weeks from now…
Take that to the bank. I mean.., what could go wrong? 😉
I will try to update things later today, but I will be out at Keeneland “working” much of the day. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it.
Have a great Friday and take care.
Please give me 80s back! I’ll even take 70’s.
You’ll get the 70’s next week.
I’m talking about all winter Prelude. 🙂
Miami or San Diego is your best bet.
I’ve been anxious about our weather for this weekend and it looks like we might get lucky for most of the Saturday activities. But the GFS for 2 weeks from now is not what a hunter wants to see for opening weekend of deer hunting. 🙁
That is exactly what I want to see 2 weeks out. Easier to track w/snow on the ground; the deer tend to move more; easier to let it hang a few days to age before you have to butcher it if you butcher your own. I would LOVE to have snow on the ground for opening day.
Had great weather at Keeneland two weeks ago..Looks like things should go off without any huge rain for the Breeders Cup..Trick or treaters might be a little more dicey. Working at Keeneland…Sure…
My sister recently relocated to Georgetown KY to live and work…..she’s so psyched about going to Keeneland/Breeders Cup today and tomorrow! Don’t think the cold, cloudy conditions currently in Lexington will be all that much to complain about for at least it is dry.
Only 59 degrees in Nashville TN but it is sunny 🙂 .
Well tony c said mild winter more rain then snow do I guess we might not get our cold and snowy winter
Wsaz are nowcasters, take their word with a grain of salt
No October snow this year. Prelude?
Doesn’t look like it
Nope not happening this year.
Not real confident will see snow in November. I’m leaning towards the warmer winter myself. By no means am I trolling on what CB thinks, got nothing but respect for CB especially last winter. CB for the most part was spot on.

For now, I am not cutting on and complaining against The Weather Channel as their November forecast could end-up correctly; however, the article focuses mostly on the first two weeks of the month. If the pattern changes during the third and fourth weeks, we may yet again end up around average like we did in October. Already, The Weather Channel is suggesting that this year’s El Nino will likely not be so cut and dry, yet why does this organization along with many other prediction centers hammer in the “typical” El Nino forecasts with the nonsense dry, warm winter for KY???
cloudy and chilly in ne bourbon co today..no sun,
down hill from here..
