Good Friday, everyone. Our weekend is starting out on a very nice weather note across the commonwealth of Kentucky. While we enjoy some pleasant December conditions, it’s all eyes on a series of upper level lows to impact the region next week.
The first upper low throws some clouds our way by Sunday with a few showers possible late in the day. We will have a better chance for some chilly showers by Monday a tat low passes right on top of us…
As that one moves to our east, another is set to take its place a few days later…
You can actually see two more upper lows across the plains states. Those two may come together to form a bigger system as the week wears on.
Speaking of wearing on… as we roll into the middle of December, the pattern still looks to go toward a more wintertime setup. The evolution on the GFS really hasn’t changed much…
I’ll check back with another update later today. Enjoy your Friday and take care.
Thanks Chris. Looks like a good weekend for the Christmas Parade in Somerset on Saturday evening! And as far as a more wintery look, well, it IS December, and probably about time for that to happen. Ah well, its going to do what it does, so we just need to watch you and the blog and hand on for the ride!
Have a great Friday everyone! Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Looking forward to mid-December!
Not so fast my friends…I was watch TWC this morning & one guy said it will be very doubtful to see any snow before Christmas unless you live West of Chicago! I also remember last year as I was planning my vacation for the end of December that the models were showing a shift to a winter pattern (at least with temps) around New Year’s Day…but that eventually got pushed well into January. Not trying to be a Debbie downer, but these pattern changes are very unpredictable. I have my fingers crossed, along with everyone else!
Yeah, I am not holding my breath for any snow for Christmas either. I would happy to see a good snow for Christmas, but it still VERY early in meteorological winter, and actual winter doesn’t start for about another 2 1/2 weeks.
I agree the signals have been there for a pattern shift but then disappear. It’s a wait and see game December does not look all that promising for snow lover. No snowpack to the north of us so that doesn’t bold well. Until the pattern shifts no real reason to believe anything different. Normal to above normal temps shall prevail.
The last two Decembers have been “no shows” for snow. I am not expecting anything with a “wow factor” until February, or the end of January.

I guess the Weather Channel is Gospel? All they do is flip flop.
Yes, the past few Decembers haven’t been to exciting in the snow department….January and February are when the real fun and games begin around here!
Yea – or like last year, we waited all the way until Feb before things kicked in.
