Good Saturday everyone and thanks for stopping by the blog during your weekend. We have been hyping some big weather changes by the middle of November for a while now. Those changes are underway as we speak and they will likely lead to an early start to winter!
Our cold front moved through Friday with some decent rains for much of central and eastern Kentucky. A general quarter to half inch fell giving us a preview of what should turn out to be a wet week ahead. More on that in a moment.
Much colder air continues to move in across the state on this Saturday. Clouds will be more common than sun and winds will by gusty. Highs should run close to 50 in most areas. Some thermometers may tick up just a bit more ahead of a little system diving in for Saturday night into Sunday. This will bring plenty of low level moisture that can lead to a chilly rain shower that can have a wet snowflake mixed in with it. The GFS has had a steady hand in showing this chance…
Sunday Morning
This will be nothing widespread by any means but it’s something to watch for. The big news for Sunday will be the cold temps with highs in the low to mid 40s under mostly cloudy skies. Gusty winds will make it feel like it’s in the 30s.
Monday morning will be a cold one as temps hit the middle 20s in most areas. A few spots may see temps bottom out closer to 20! Brrrrrr! Clouds will be on the increase later Monday with highs warming through the 40s. Those clouds are ahead of a low pressure across the southern plains that will weaken out as it heads north and east toward the Tennessee Valley. This should make for a very chilly rain for our part of the world. I mentioned a few days ago that there was a small chance for something frozen on the leading edge of the precip shield and the GFS shows this…
Tuesday Morning
Again… this is a cold rain moving in for Tuesday and with a weakness in the atmosphere setting up from the western Gulf into Kentucky… we could see some soaking rains out of this. Highs will generally run in the upper 40’s to maybe a few low 50s.
A more potent storm will be coming through the base in our trough by the end of next week. This low should be the strongest of the bunch and may bring heavy rains to the region to go along with gusty winds. Take a look…
GFS Friday Afternoon
It is this low that should also set the pattern up for a deep trough to develop across the eastern half of the country next weekend into the following week. This should allow for some very cold air to move in and may also bring the threat for some wintry weather…

Thanks Chris for the update….Based on the map, looks like UK football’s Senior Night next week could be interesting weatherwise.
Thanks Chris! I ready for anything mother nature throws our way. I’d love to see snow stay on the ground all winter!
Chris Bailey and his surprises!!! gotta love’em…lol.. Well all the stores have got the Christmas decor up and playing the Christmas music now, so all we need now is some snowflakes flying around to put the icing on the cake…
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, while we’re getting ready for snowflakes. Hurricane Paloma is now a Cat.4 storm. Tying for the 2nd strongest Hurricane EVER for the month of NOV… Hmm.. looks like the atmosphere is stretching like a big rubber band, and when it snaps..LOOK OUT !!!! BELOW….:)
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
…Hurricane Paloma…
At 700 AM EST the center of Hurricane Paloma was located just southeast of Cayman Brac. This is also about 110 miles east-northeast of Grand Cayman and about 165 miles southwest of Camaguey Cuba. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 140 MPH with higher gusts. Paloma is an extremely dangerous Category Four Hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Scale. Some additional strengthening is possible this morning, with weakening expected later today through Sunday
next sunday for the eagles-bengals game could be downright cold and snowy. the 12z GFS has highs in the upper 20’s with periods of snow showers BRRRR!!!!!!
NOW YOUR TALKIN !!!!…:)
any accumulating snow in nov is bonus, last accumulating snow i have down for my house in nov was nov 26 2002 we got 8/10”
18 gfs coming out i am anxious to see what it has i am camping next weekend
So your cheering for Cincy getting snow Tim ? suppose to cheer for us getting snow and i think this yr will be even a bigger disappointment than last with all the hype we have had for this year. I hope i eat my words but its hard to buck the trend
Hey Chris, were you at the game today? I heard T.G. nailed his field goal. What about the guy from the other station? I didn’t hear anything about him.
It’s chilly!! I had to dig out all the doggie sweaters and thank goodness they still fit. We have seven dogs so it gets expensive to keep them in winter wardrobes.
the other guy missed bad kp TG nailed his field goal right through the uprights.
Looking forward to the cold and snow.
It was a beautiful day for football today, too bad the Cats couldn’t pull it out. Chris why weren’t you kicking field goals at half time? Well at least TG made his, unlike the guy from that other station.
The Cats sure did play a good game today…I went to the game and the cold wasn’t unbearable. The sun was out in full force, so that helped out a lot. It was definitely a fun game to be at, even if a little disappointing at the end.
