Good Sunday everyone. It’s time for your daily dose of what little weather knowledge I can share with you!
We are coming off a much blustery Saturday across the state. Even as temps hit the low 50s… those winds made it feel much colder. Get used to it! ![]()
Our Sunday will be even colder as highs struggle in the low to mid 40s. Mainly cloudy skies will be with us with a small chance for a passing sprinkle or flurry. Winds will be rather gusty as well making for a very chilly November day.
Monday will start out very cold with temps well into the 20s. The traditional cold spots may flirt with 20. Mostly sunny skies will be with us during the day but temps will only rebound into the mid and upper 40s.
A very unsettled period kicks off Tuesday and this will likely take us into the rest of next week into the following weekend. The first low coming at us Tuesday and Wednesday should be weakening out as it moves through meaning our rain will be of the shower variety with the widespread stuff coming later in the week. I have been talking about the outside chance that the leading edge of any precip early Tuesday could begin as a touch of sleet. I see no reason to shy away from this threat and the GFS backs me up…
Tuesday Morning
Again… it’s a small chance and wouldn’t be a big deal if it worked out that way.
A damp and chilly period is in store for much of next week with highs ranging from the upper 40s and low 50s Tuesday to the low and mid 50s for the rest of the week. The main rain action should be moving in for Thursday and Friday as a fairly deep low pressure develops and moves our way. This could very well be the big rain maker we have been waiting on…
GFS Rainfall Thursday and Friday
Let’s hope it works out that way!
That low will be able to tap into a deep trough digging in by later Friday into Saturday. This trough should allow for the coldest air of the season to pour into the region.
GFS Friday Evening
The European model agrees with the cold call…
Not only will the cold be coming… but it’s a pattern that can also bring snow showers and flurries with it. It’s a fairly energetic pattern so we need to keep an eye on it to see if we are to get anything more than that! ![]()
I will have a week ahead update coming later tonight so check back. Until then… take care and have a great Sunday!

I hope we get some good soaking rains before long..The pattern is looking up for winter lovers, and those desperately in need of some good ole
rain..
Thanks Chris. Tim, I agree…we desparately need rain.
I was in Knoxville yesterday and the drive was really spectacular. I thought the trees would be dull but the colors were very bright. The Oak Ridge area was almost blinding with the golden and red trees. I assumed they had avoided the drought but now I see that they are in worse shape than Central Kentucky.
Rain in November is too late for the farmers but it still helps the trees and wildlife. Bring it on!!
Snow on the ground next weekend? I think we have a real shot.:) Winter is cooming early my friends so get ready. Full update later tonight.
Holy Snowflake! (Sorry, I am a child of the sixties and couldn’t resist the Batman and Robin imitation) Snow actually on the ground before Thanksgiving? Wouldn’t that be nice?
But only as long as no one is harmed by it. Sometimes I feel guilty for liking snow and cold because it does cause problems sometimes. I’ve been trying to tone my enthusiasm down.
Thanks, Chris, for all the updates…we appreciate it.
Rhonda I so agree but l like you love the snow even more when its the holiday season. Chris tonight that’s a long time to wait but we will be here waiting.
Rhonda B and Marsha…….I feel the same way sometimes. Maybe Chris should have a warning on the front page..”Beware snow lovers on site”. LOL!
Yes Patty that’s what Chris should do because we just can’t help ourself we love cold and snow I have the christmas music on and getting ready to put up the tree. I know I’m so silly
Hey all! I see what chris sees!

For the past couple of years I have loved winter, couldn’t wait on it to get here. Of course, hardly any snow, but now that I don’t like the cold, we have a real possibility of snow by next weekend. Go figure. Ooh well, I still love winter, just don’t like the cold as much, but i’ll take the snow anyday. It poured the rain friday night & the wond was blowing really hard. It made driving that night very diffacult. Today it looks like it could burst snow or rain. I took one step outside & came right back in lol. But, I am putting up my christmas tree & decorations today. Christmas really isn’t that far off & I usually do it after we eat thanksgiving dinner, but by the time we eat & do dishes, we are so tired that its hard to feel like putting it up, so I decided to go ahead & put it up. Its really pretty, especially with the very cloudy & cold day outside. Perfect day to put it up. I also have very pretty bells that sing & light up. Chris was right, we should have no problem getting into the christmas spirit.
good discussion from our budy mj today!
The snow bells are ringing very loudly now. It appears we may see snowflakes before Thanksgiving, and I’m about 70 percent sure of that happening.
Just a heads up for all you folks out there who are tuned into any snow threats, be it light or heavy.
