Good Tuesday, everyone. Our string of crazy wet and warm days is finally coming to an end. We desperately need time to dry out and it looks like we’re going to get just that in the coming days. This leads us into January and what appears to be a totally different weather pattern across the country.

A leftover shower or two will be possible out there today with temps mainly in the 40s. One more shower maker brushes the region on Wednesday with a few showers possible.

Colder air then follows that up for the end of 2015 and the start of 2016. Highs will be back in the 30s for many with lows dropping into the upper teens and low 20s over the weekend. Skies should stay mainly dry.

A much more seasonal pattern takes shape for next week as the overall hemispheric setup undergoes significant changes as blocking shows up… potentially in a big way.

Look at some of the indicies…

BlockingBlocking 2That crazy positive Arctic Oscillation (AO) has likely been much more of a player in our warm fall and December than the raging El Nino has. A that signal goes negative in the coming few weeks… you should start to see deeper troughs showing up across the eastern part of the country.

Indeed… the Ensembles show just that during the second week of January…
