Good Sunday bloggers and thanks for dropping by. We are getting ready to wrap up a nice, crisp fall weekend here in the bluegrass state. Ahhhh… my kind of weather. I promised an update after rolling in from watching the Cats come back against the hogs. GO BIG BLUE!! Since I am a man of my word… here we go.
1. This will be a quickie since I will have a full update later this evening.
2. After our frosty start today… sunny skies will boost temps toward the low 60s. Awesome!
3. Monday will be the warmest day of the week and could easily be the warmest we see for several weeks as highs flirt with 70.
4. A weak front will move through Monday night with the chance for a light shower into Tuesday.
5. Temps will chill down again Tuesday with highs struggling to get much past 60.
6. Another frost or freeze is possible Wednesday morning… especially in the east. This is sneaky cold that will likely spank some of the forecasts I am seeing.
7. A big cutoff low pressure will roll our way later Thursday into the coming weekend. This should lead to widespread rains with the potential for 1″ plus amounts. This will especially be the case if some tropical moisture gets drawn northward into the region and I think this is a possibility.
8. Temps are likely to tank by Friday into next weekend. I am talking about highs running well below normal certainly not SEASONABLY cool as one discussion would suggest.![]()
9. The next month is looking to see winter get off to an early start across the eastern half of the country. This is something I have been dropping hints at over the past week or so. More on this coming later. ![]()
Have a great Sunday and I will chat with you again later this evening. Take care.

Question:
What is an RFC boundary? If you look at the link to this map, below the map are boxes to check which map you want to show up, one of which says RFC boundary. What is that?

Thanks Chris for the update…GO BIG BLUE!!! 🙂
Bone chilling 28.0 degrees here in Staffordsville (up a holler), eastern KY.
Wow, is it ever cold! Chris, you nailed it once again!
Aaron C, I can’t thank you ENOUGH for your help with the maps! I am sorry that I didn’t respond yesterday – I ended up being away from home all afternoon/evening, and didn’t get any computer time.
Thank you so much for taking such time in answering my request for help so clearly. Your comments were a HUGE help in my understanding, and I thank you!
Have a great Sunday, everyone! God Bless!
Thanks Chris…This is my kind of weather too! I also love that we have this blog to turn to especially during the winter months. The speculation from all those that participate is fun to read and gives me something to look forward to in an otherwise boring season (meaning short dreary days and long cold nights).
12z gfs going to the extreme in the long range similar to the 00z cmc. 30’s for highs are possible on oct 29 snow showers included.
