Thanks Chris…my parents had to bring their tomatoes inside due to the potential for frost…cover your plants, especially in the valleys.
The GFS still shows a POWERFUL trough digging into the midwest during the weekend of the 11th. This could potentially be one of those systems that produces a squall line and other severe weather in the warm sector, and then sweeps through the Ohio Valley with COLD air behind it. And we’re only half way into the month at that point.
Makes you wonder if Halloween snow could be possible this year considering all the cold air bottling up in Canada so early.
It was a chilly 42* down here this morning Chris! And the temps are just now reaching 60*at 1:00…Had to turn a little heat on this A.M.How is the winter looking as far as the 4 letter word, that I dare not say right now??
I mentioned this in the previous post, but I’ll post it here too. On the Rowan/Carter line (Haldeman, KY) it was 36.4 degrees at 6 am this morning.
If I remember correctly last year, didn’t we have little snow pellets in October? I remember putting a roof on, and freezing to death…and trying to figure out ways to make the tar move a little better. I think it warmed up on the Sunday…but there was a Saturday were it was grey, windy, and I definitly had ice/snow pellets at my house.
chris nalled this one again for some areas despite little support from the models. dewpoints are down into the mid 30’s now and winds look to be light tonight with mostly clear skies, there is defintely a light frost threat tonight. JKL has also added in patchy frost.
Thats why we have Chris cause he does more than just read models he actually forecasts i guess the no chance of frost is not looking so hot now
gut fealings can go a long way sometimes.
FROST ADVISORY TONIGHT EASTERN KY
The dewpoint temperatures look good for frost..but the air temperatures and wind velocities do not. IF we can completely kill this brisk breeze tonight, and drop a few more degrees colder than last night, there will be patchy frost. But that’s very iffy right now and I won’t be looking for any at my house in the morning.
It was 44 here next to the Floyd County Line.
Here it was definitely chilly. Cloudy but no frost. Lots of due on the car. Minimum temps. were 44.
Wow really where do you live Wayne
Chris…..There you go again with the cryptic weather suggestions. I’m getting more excited by the minute! I know this means absolutely nothing, but I have a feeling deep in my bones that this will be Kentucky’s winter of all winters (I’ve probably jinxed it now that I’ve said it). LOL!
I’ve got to publicate resembling like this on my website and this gave me excellent idea. Thank You!
