Good Thursday to one and all. Today’s weather is looking absolutely gorgeous with plenty of sunshine and temps spiking toward 50 or a little better. Take my advice and go out and enjoy it… it’s not going to last very long. As a matter of fact, it’s one and done. Rain is on the way for Friday and will usher in another blast of winter weather. Arctic cold gets back into the region by the time we roll into Sunday and Monday. Let’s talk about the Friday rains before looking toward the frozen tundra stuff. Locally heavy rains will be possible Friday across central Kentucky. This is the area we’re seeing the highest rain totals being forecast from some of the models… Even that may be a little overdone. Temps will quickly fall into the 30s from west to east during the evening. By Saturday morning, most areas are below freezing with some light snow showers and flurries around. That action sticks around into the afternoon… That looks like a lot of snow, but it really isn’t. I could see a coating or two out of it, but nothing more with highs in the low 30s for most. The arctic front swings into town on Sunday with a band of snow and very gusty winds. This gives our region a better shot at some accumulations before temperatures go in the tank. As has been the case of late, the Canadian Model is the coldest of the bunch… That’s some ugly cold showing up on that model, and it may be just a littler overdone. That said… it has been the only model to nail the single digit lows we’ve had on two occasions over the past week. The GFS is coming back into line with most of the other models in not taking a big storm up the east coast. It’s never a good sign when it’s all alone in the model world. It is getting a little more support with another system moving in here by Tuesday and Wednesday… I will update things later today. Make it a good one and take care.

Double post… that’s weird… Sorry… (Actually – it is sort of ironic.)
Okay with me Mike. I had my fill last year. Bring on spring!
Festive flakes and wasted cold. At least the lawn has quit growing.
And maybe we will be rid of bugs and allergens for a while!
Same as last year. 2.5 inches for the seAson and 3.7 last year at this time. Normal for Lou. is 4.5 or somewhere around there. Plenty is winter left. Southern branch will kick back in end of month. With blocking up north Kentucky should be in line for some snow and or ICE. Besides that I just bought two new snow pushers and I have to use them at least once before the landscape equipment comes back out.
Good luck with that
That 2.5 has only been seen in small sections of the state. Most of the state has not even seen a dusting this year. I know that last year got off to a late start, but this year has not really even had a miss up to this point. I’m okay either way, just move on to spring when the time comes.
0 for me in Richmond. Perhaps the slowest start in my 11 years here. Hey – I am waiting for late Jan and Feb for Snowpocalypse II.
Just like old (pre last winter) times!
We have a chance of a thumping with the dynamics from a pent up winter, but seems more likely cold and wind will be the main theme.
CB might need to winter-sublease the thread to some sports talk 🙂
