Good evening, folks. We have a fantastic weather day wrapping up across the region with sun, wind and mild temps. Get ready to say goodbye to that over the next few days as cold temps turn bitterly cold late this weekend and early next week.
Showers move in from the southwest on Friday as temps stay mild ahead of the drops. A drop of another kind moves in from west to east during the evening as temps take a dive. This carries us into Saturday with readings in the low 30s for highs with snow showers and flurries around.
Our arctic front zips in here late Sunday with a band of snow and gusty winds…
The coldest temps in relation to normal are located right on top of our region…
Temps by Monday morning may make a run at zero. The Canadian is even colder than that…
Another light snow maker is possible later Tuesday into Wednesday. The GFS continues to point toward Thursday and Friday for a possible messy system…
Who knows if all this will actually deliver the goods, but we sure have a lot to track!
Enjoy the evening and take care.
Thanks. So much fun to track winter weather. The sun melted the snowman we built this week.
Chris I think we all know the answer to that rain yes snow no
“messy” = hey look, ice potential
No tracking toys :/
If that “messy” doesn’t hit we will be into the last few days of January with very little to even no snow for the majority of the state. I actually like the late February to March snows that come and go within a few days. The January snows have the potential to put schools out for a long time.
Wouldn’t hurt my feelings a bit if GFS is completely wrong about the system late next week. Pink is a color you don’t want to see on a winter forecast map…

No worries, as we know none of the models can accurately forecast a week out.
