Good Friday to one and all. We have a blast of March weather blowing into the bluegrass state. This is complete with mild temperatures and gusty winds. Showers will eventually join our March party, but Old Man Winter is plotting his comeback next week.
Highs today will head into the 60-65 degree range for many. Upper 60s will be possible in the far west. The wind will be the big story of the day. Gusts of 40-45mph will be likely, with some areas possibly hitting 50mph. With a thawing ground, watch for a few weakened trees to topple over.
Clouds will increase a bit this evening and that could spawn a shower or two that carries us into Saturday morning. Once that action moves away, a mix of sun and clouds boosts temps back into the 60s…
Rain will become much more widespread on Sunday with temps several degrees cooler. Rain totals through Monday morning…
Much colder air moves in by Monday as temps are back to normal. That sets the stage for a bigger storm system to develop by Tuesday and Wednesday. The models are still trying to figure out how to play another pretty extreme setup. They all show a different solution with each run, but that’s to be expected from several days out.
The latest European Model shows just how many variables are coming into play…
The individual members from the GFS Ensembles from WeatherBELL show quite a spread…
I will update things later today. Make it a good one and take care.
Looks like no storm for central ky. Dang it
That’s what I was seeing too. Almost every single run of that model misses most of Kentucky, particularly central KY. Is it onto something?
Looks like all rain too, temps to high around here for next week
Looks like the east NE of us might get hit again next week with a big snow.
Really hoping it makes the shift but I am not optimistic. In fact I could once again smell and feel spring on my run this morning! I’ll be surprised if we can squeeze another storm out this Winter season. I’m already looking forward to Spring Storm season. I think it is (almost) safe to put the sleds and boots away.
The only S word I want to hear from this point forward is SUNSHINE!
The noon Euro looks like a snowstorm for much of KY next Tuesday night and Wednesday. Anyone picking up on this?
Yes… It does have an interesting look. Hmmm…
What is the link to this? Thanks.
It is possible we could see some wet snow in much of KY next week, but the temps are just not favorable for nothing more than a snapshot then melt off! With the ground now thawed, no true arctic air in the forecast, and a higher sun angle next week, it looks bleak for a lasting snow on the ground long, if we can even turn the rain over to snow:{
Low coming straight through the state. Snow to rain to snow = slop.
