Good Saturday and welcome to the last weekend of February. Temps are on the rise for the final few days of February, and that bodes well for those looking to get outdoors. This also means it’s time to start turning our attention toward the increasing potential March roars in like a lion.
Highs today will be in the 50s across the entire state with skies becoming mostly sunny. Sunday cranks it up to another level with the entire state deep into the 60s. Winds will also be very gusty and could reach 40mph or greater late in the day.
A weak cold front dives in Sunday night and early Monday with the threat for a few showers. Your Hi-Res NAM shows the narrow band of showers…
Temps on Monday will come down a few degrees as gusty winds continue.
This sets the stage for a bigger storm system to impact our weather as March starts active with a Tuesday/Wednesday storm system…
We can worry about that after we get past this awesome weekend. Until then, go outside and play! 🙂
I will update things later this evening. Enjoy your Saturday and take care.
Thanks CB!
This coming week might be similar to last week. Looks like the cold air lost it’s mojo compared to this time last year with the smack down.
Tuesday/Wednesday map sure looks a lot different than yesterday afternoons run/post!
…and Chris didn’t invite the GFS to today’s blog. Wonder why? 😛
Perhaps at least some chance of severe wx this Tue for western parts of KY and TN although it’s still early (early even for models other than the GFS). In the meantime, this weekend sure looks like a winner even if it may not be quite as warm as the previous Saturday. Last Saturday’s (Feb 20) fabulous weather actually made me forget my very hectic work week before that Saturday. As CB said, everybody enjoy this weekend! Indeed, my wife and I are about to walk the dog now.
This recent model run appears to have any white stuff far north of Louisville. Things can change, and perhaps March could still bring snow, but we all know that is less likely as weeks go by. I am looking forward to longer days, sunshine, playing outside with my children, bike rides, and the bursting forth of new leaves and flowers.
Looks like we’re getting into a typical spring pattern now. One big wind driven system per week with lots of nice days mixed in between. Sounds good to me, green leaves and fresh cut lawns right around the corner!
I am nearly 100 percent certain that the meteorological winter of December through February will go down as a top ten warmest winter season for the official reporting sites at Paducah, Bowling Green, Louisville, Lexington, and Jackson. December really helped skew the results. I find it most amazing that Bowling Green’s consecutive top ten monthly snow totals will now be paired with a top ten warmest winter season. Wild!
This winter was disappointing.
Winter is done folks! As the Commodores should be soon as well!
Winter may be over. But the Commodores live.
