Good late Saturday evening gang. Very heavy rains are moving back into central and eastern Kentucky and will be with us overnight into Sunday.
Here is a look at the just before 11pm radar…
The threat for severe weather is low right now. But, the chances for heavy rain will be on the increase into Sunday. Local amounts of an inch or two will be likely over the next 12-18 hours. Areas that picked up the heaviest rain early Saturday will have to watch for some high water problems.
Your Sunday will feature better conditions from west to east as we go into the afternoon hours as rains push east.
I will update the outlook as needed overnight into Sunday so check back. I will have your week ahead forecast coming later Sunday.
Take care.

Chris……that radar graphic looks kind of scary! It certainly does look like a good deal of rain headed out way!
We had nice rain here today. I am glad that the severe part is low. I will take some more rain.
Hopefully this will drop some rain in northwest Lexington, we didn’t get any measurable rain today 🙁
I got a little lazy today and didn’t water the plants. Let’s hope Mother Nature helps me out tonight. I hope, hope, hope…..
Thanks Chris…keep us posted.
Well looking at the radar looks like the storms are staying in TN and we may have to deal with light rain early today but i’m no weather man so i guess we will have to wait on Chris to give us the heads up
No rain again for NW Lexington. We’re at 0″ for the entire weekend! Too bad I can’t hook up a hose to south lexington and water my dead yard.
Morning, Chris! Thanks for the update. I really hope we get some rain here, but I don’t want severe storms. (They would cut into my sunday afternoon nap! 😉 ) Anyway, we didnt’ see much rain yesterday, so I am hoping we sill get some today. IT doesn’t have to be a continious gully washer, but, some good rain will be most welcome!
Have a great day, everyone!
Good morning!!Chris is the rain stuck in lexington?????? Send it to eastern ky.MichaelT i feel your pain. Why such a slow mover Chris?????
Mornin Mr. Bailey! Love your new blog..can’t wait to see you on air again. I have missed ya!!
Hey Chris! What happened to the torriental rain? The radar last night showed up that way while it was headed here. My rain gauge didn’t show much more this morning than it did after that 1/4 ” we got yesterday early afternoon. This morning was misty but that was about it.
Hey Crystal…..How’s Pikeville and have you seen any rain yet?
Not a drop Patty. The snow/rain dome lives!!!!! Have you heard from Bernie?
No, I haven’t heard from him in a while. Have you tried YouBuddies?
Rainfall was a bust here in northwest Casey County. The NWS forecast for here last night was a 90% chance of heavy rain. The total here was about 0.43 inches. Most of that came yesterday. We are thankful for what we received, but we are in desperate need of a widespread soaking rain. Disappointing that it didn’t happen again.
I’m curious to see how August is going to play out. Isn’t that typically our driest month (or one of the driest) on average?
its super nice out today, i cant even tell it rained!
Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for east-central Pike County until 6pm…radar estimates indicate 2 inches of rain in that area.
