Good Late Sunday evening everyone. I certainly hope you had a good weekend. As we put the wraps on a few restful days… it’s time to start looking ahead to see what is coming our way for the week ahead.
Ladies and gentleman… I give you…
THE HEADLINES! ![]()
1. Our rain and storms from early Sunday turned out to be a dud. Oh maw nature kicked the forecast around a little bit to show us who is still the boss.
2. This is going to be a fairly tranquil week for much of the country. But I still have to break it down for ya.
3. Our week starts off with nice temps with Monday starting off with some upper 50s around and ending with middle 80s for highs. Skies will be awesome!
4. Some heat is going to make a run at us for the middle and end of the week and I think it actually gets in here for a few days.
5. Hot and humid weather should be noted from Tuesday through Friday. High temps near 90 will be with us Tuesday then some low 90s will be around for the rest of the week.
6. We have only had 3 90 degree days in Lexington so far so I need a few to get that summer forecast of 20 of those hot days to verify.
7. A cold front will move in next weekend with our next threat for storms and this should put an end to any 90 streak we may have.
8. Bertha is still out there near Bermuda and is a slooooooooooow mover. This storm will likely do some loop de loops over the next several days and we could still be tracking it a week from now.
9. The pattern is set for another Atlantic storm to form over the next 10 days.
10. Since this will be a boring weather week… get your snow shovels out!
Well… I will at least throw some winter maps your way. Of course… these will be for entertainment purposes only. ![]()
I will update again later Monday so make sure you check back. Have a great start to the new week my friends and take care.

O.K. lets try this again for the 5th or 6th time..lol…been on vacation for the past 12 days, just getting home, and checking out the new blog, and by the looks of my front yard it looks like we’ve been getting plenty rain. I guess I’ll have to tackle that mess tomorrow…lol…hope everyone is doing well..
Chris, Mitch,
I understand mother nature kicked the crap out of us to show us who’s boss, but what happened? This was supposedly a strong front? I’ve noticed alot of activity in the carolinas and even tn. Did the energy just stay north? Cloud cover inhibited severe development? Though I don’t understand that because as a front crosses the country, there’s going to be activity along and ahead of the front so there is a high chance for cloud debris along and ahead of the front, NO? I’m just curious what happens with these systems at times. I’m watching huge storms blow up in the midwest where there were cloudy skies earlier this week.
Hey All! Glad to see you finally got your post to work Marsha! Tim Welcome home. I’m sure you’d rather still be on vacation than having to catch up on the mowing.
Chris……Can’t wait to hear what your early predictions may be! That will be fun!
Chris, Thanks for the updates. It is foggy and 58* in Locust along Licking River in Fleming this morning. Only received 3 tenths of rain Sat/Sun. Everyone have a good and safe week ahead. Dean at Locust
Chris, thanks for the update! I’m excited about some hot temps this week, plan to take the kids swimming a few times. Here’s looking for snow in January!
Why can’t I post? Did Chris ban me already? 🙂
New Hurricane Threat! See the models on this one here: http://www.sfwmd.gov/portal/page?_pageid=2854,19644915,2854_19644936:2854_19645022:2854_19645029&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
Looks, at this time, like this one could become a problem. Something to watch in the next few days.
Make sure you click on “Storm 94” in the previous link!
The 1st track that displays is for Bertha..no threat from her.
Good Monday afternoon to everyone. Looks like a pretty boring week in the world of weather. oh well I’ll enjoy the warm *Not Hot* temperatures and the sunshine.
Thanks for the update Chris! Guess you are getting ready for the big move this week, huh? well, at least you will have a good week for it weather wise.
YOur opinion, do you think this is going to turn out to be an active hurricans season? OR, do you think it could possibly be like last years…several storms, but none really threatening the US mainland? Just curious, as I have a trip to FLA planned for September, and we are flying this time….would hate to get ‘hurricaned’ out of it. 😉
Looking forward to the next update.
Thanks for the update, Chris! Good luck with your move!
Coffeelady, MY opinion is that this will be an active season. We’re already off to quite a start with Bertha and now 94L (which could very soon become Cristobal). There is also talk of the possibility of some development off the SC coast. September is around the peak of the season so who knows what will be going on then. I say just keep an eye on the tropics around that time and plan accordingly.
Here’s the latest loop on 94L: http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/flt/t2/loop-vis.html
I’m looking forward to a few tranquil weather days as I am off until Wednesday and then have a relatively short work week once I go back. 🙂
What’s up Bailey!!!! Like the new look dude!!!! Big concert in Louisville soon, will let you know dates/times, etc. “They say I’m Crazy”
marklex:timing was not good mark for thunderstorms with a late night passage. storms fire up in the afternoon and evening then taper off for the late night and morning hours, that’s when the front was in our area. east ky got some Sunday west ky got it sat pm.
i hope everyone is watching the sat pictures off the florida coast an interesting tropical wave is forming there very slowly, we’ll have to watch for enhanced moisture from this on fri/sat.
I’m in the Bahamas for the rest of the month, and I have been watching that low out into the Atlantic. I have a mixed bag of emotions right now. I’ve never experienced a hurricane, and I think it would be cool. On the other hand, I don’t want the kids who have paid money to serve down here have to have their trip messed up. We’ll see what happens to this. There seem to be other disturbances to the east and south of this little low as well.
I will be updating the blog later this evening so be sure and check back. Thanks for blogging with me.
I don’t want to repeat your web site, but I actually like the template. Could you comment on which theme are you using or is this custom designed?
