Good Sunday and Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. Rounds of showers and storms continue to push across the region today, and this is a sign of things to come. The week ahead looks rather bumpy with more boomers blasting the bluegrass state.
Today’s storms won’t be as severe as the Saturday stuff, but I can’t rule out a strong storm. We will also have quite the temperature gradient setting up from northeast to southwest. Some areas stay in the 60s, while the far west and south make a run toward 80 degrees.

Scattered storms will be around Monday as the warmer air lifts back to the north. This sets the stage for some stronger storms from Monday night through Wednesday. Here’s the setup during this time…
A cold front moves in on Thursday with a line of showers and strong thunderstorms along and ahead of it. That may temporarily put an end to the storms as chilly air dives into the eastern part of the country…

If that setup holds, summer won’t be very hot. The tradeoff is more mosquitoes like last year.
Given that the rain was a no show today, I have to ask if you were the one it asked for directions?
Given how the world is going today, I can’t think of a trade-off that is worth more mosquitoes. Maybe one of those UK labs can get off their butts and do a study that proves a constant 0.07% of bourbon in your blood will stop the zika infection?
