Good Wednesday, everyone. May is turning out to be very bit as wet and stormy as advertised on the blog a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, additional rounds of showers and storms are on the way for the next few days with the potential for some more strong storms.
Today’s showers and storms shouldn’t be nearly as strong or severe as what we had Tuesday. Still, a few strong storms will be possible. The best threat for big boomers may be across the southern half of the area. Given how much rain we have had recently, any storm can cause some flash flooding. I’ll hook you up with your tracking toys in a bit.
A strong cold front will blast through here late Thursday with showers and thunderstorms becoming widespread. Temps ahead of the storms may spike into the low and middle 80s with very muggy air. That could set the stage for another round of severe storms and heavy rains…
That shows the best threat for storms and flooding coming late in the afternoon and continuing into Thursday night.
Friday’s weather actually looks very nice with low 70s under a partly sunny sky.
Another front drops in here Friday night and Saturday morning with a scattering of showers and storms…
That front really unleashes some cold temperatures for the middle of May. The GFS suggests some areas don’t get to 60 degrees on Saturday…
With a clear sky Saturday night, a kiss of frost will be possible…
That chill lasts into Sunday before lifting out early next week. As that does so, we are likely to see a very quick return of showers and thunderstorms. As a matter of fact, the setup looks the part of a decent sever weather/flash flood event somewhere across our region.
I leave you with another round of storm trackers…
Today’s risk area
Enjoy the day and take care.
Fortunately the Mayfield tornado yesterday appears to have not caused any fatalities.
Is that GFS map suggesting low 50’s for high temperatures in Northern Kentucky on Saturday? Yeesh…
CB is loving this weather, since keeps people from talking about drought 🙂 😉
But here comes “blackberry winter” talk as well. :/
Blackberry Winter, Mulberry Winter, Raspberry Winter, a bunch of folklore hogwash
You forgot ‘Dingleberry Winter’
I hope it dries out soon.
I put on a festival in the first of June and counting on it drying out long enough for a road to finally be paved. The sub-grade is soaked and going to need a several days in a row to dry.
