Good Saturday to one and all. We have additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms dumping heavy rain across the region this weekend. This is all part of an increasingly active looking pattern as we roll into the first month of the summer season. From tropical action to cool temps to hot temps and thunderstorms… it’s busy over the next few weeks.

Let’s start with today and roll forward. Moisture continues to increase from the southwest as a system dives in from the northwest. This is going to cause showers and thunderstorms to increase, and a few of them could be on the strong to severe side with damaging winds and large hail.

This continues into Sunday with heavy rainfall my biggest concern. Local flooding issues will be possible once again.

Another cold front approaches the our region from the north late Monday into Tuesday. The setup with a deep trough across the east and a tropical system in the eastern Gulf, looks like something out of late September…

Temps cool down even more behind this front, and it’s possible for us to see some upper 40s for lows by Wednesday…

GFS Temps

Pleasant temps in the 70s could give way to a major warm up by next weekend. While likely too warm, there is the chance for a day or two of widespread 90 degree temps…

For all the GFS worshippers out there (and there are MANY), the new version of this model seems to have a very pronounced hot bias. Unfortunately, it’s this model that is used on all your weather craps… I mean weather apps. 😉

The European Model decided to go in a much different direction next weekend with the cooler air hanging tough in the eastern part of the country…

Whatever surge of warmth/heat that comes our way, will then have to fight with another cool down entering the country from the north. That could spawn some large thunderstorm complexes across our region…

GFS 3

If the CFS is right, there’s no shortage of rain across much of the eastern half of the country into the middle of July…

Have a great Saturday and take care.
