Good Tuesday, folks. The steam is back in full swing across the bluegrass state, and it’s bringing along rounds of showers and thunderstorms. This trend will ramp it up a notch over the next few days, and we could be talking about some strong or severe storms.

Highs today will be in the low and mid 90s across the west and near 90 in the east. Humidity levels will really soar as we take on a tropical feel (just wait until tomorrow). Scattered showers and storms will blow up, and any one storm can be severe and put down a ton of rain.

The setup over the next few days will put us in the line of fire for thunderstorm clusters diving in from the northwest…

Damaging wind producing severe thunderstorms are possible Wednesday into Wednesday night. That is a timeframe for us to really keep a close eye on, as these storms have a lot of fuel to work with. Don’t believe me? Check out the dewpoint temperature forecasts for Wednesday afternoon…

Both models are forecasting 80 degree dewpoints across Kentucky. That’s right… 80 degree dewpoints are possible in a few spots Wednesday. That’s a tremendous amount of juice in the air! Wow.

Thursday will give us some scattered strong storms and one more hot and humid day. Beyond that, the models continue to blow up a storm along the east coast. The European Model goes nuts with it…

That’s wicked and wild to see during the summer. The end result for us would be breezy and cooler weather heading into the weekend.

The GFS is singing a different tune with the storm hanging across the Carolinas then merging with a front sweeping into our region by Monday…
