Good Monday and Happy 4th of July! As we celebrate our Independence Day, we will have to keep a close eye to the sky as rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms rumble through. These storms will also continue to put down torrential rainfall that can lead to additional high water issues.
I won’t spend much time rehashing everything. Rounds of storms roll through with the threat for high winds and hail. The atmosphere is charged up with moisture, and these storms can put down some incredible rainfall numbers in a short amount of time. Watch for possible flash flooding across the entire region.
I’m also watching the middle and end of the week for thunderstorm complexes dropping in from the northwest. These can bring additional high water threats, and a few could be strong or severe.

I will have the latest on WKYT-TV. Happy 4th of July and take care.
Over the past 2 days, 3-5″ in western KY common
Here in Louisville, 1-2″ but more like 1-1.5″ for most of us here.
In Valley Station, right at 1.38″ for the event.
But, an impressive line of storms approaching from my west at this time…should be moving through over the next couple of hours
Thanks Chris. Happy Fourth if July everyone! Guess we are going to see a lot of Mother Natures own to go with the festivities of the day. Headed toward Lexington in a little bit. Hope the storms are moving on. Hate driving in rain. Rest of the week looks steamy and stormy as well. Oh well. It is what it is. Happy Birthday America!
Richmond got almost nothing in the past few days beyond a few light showers. Models seemed to have missed this one for a good chunk of the area. We kept waiting on the big event, but it was big wimpy. Winchester got a pretty good medium-ish storm, but no where near the scale of wind and rain level expected.
Seems the case for a lot of areas, unless most of it is tonight.
Okay, Now we are getting the rain. Never mind. I thought we had lucked out from the heavy rain… Still a chance though π π
Sorry Bubba, but I disagree with you today. Richmond may not have gotten the worst of it, but a good amount of rain has fallen.
Was referring to Richmond area. Looks like the stuff went all around us, but getting some medium to heavy rain now.
About 45 minutes worth and done. Still a win π
No complaints here in Richmond, since so far this year (and today) we have missed all the big storm issues. Even the heavy rains have been heavier to our north and south π So far, anyway….
Tornado in Louisa, Kentucky.
Must be some real heavy rain on the horizon, since our Direct TV keeps going out and looks like a bunch of non placed Legos.
