Good Tuesday, everyone. Severe weather and flooding rains pounded much of the region over the 4th of July weekend. While some of us get a bit of a break today, more storms are on the way in the coming days. These storms will be coming at us from a different direction than the ones we just had. Instead of watching the west, it’s time to focus on the northwestern sky.

Before we get to those additional storm clusters, we have a few more storms out there today. The greatest chance is across eastern and southern parts of the region. Any storm that goes up can put down some very heavy rain numbers…

Heat builds across the plains and Mississippi Valley over the next several days. Some of this makes a run at Kentucky, but the outer edge of the heat is likely to spawn rounds of thunderstorms. Look at the NAM future radar for Wednesday into Thursday…

These storms can become wind produces that also put down a lot of rain. Given how wet the ground is, we will have to watch for possible flash flooding.

A cold front then drops in over the weekend, and likely puts the brakes on. The end result could be some west-east moving thunderstorms setting up…
