Good Saturday, everyone. The month of July isn’t messing around with thunderstorms and flooding rains. It’s pretty much been nonstop since we rolled into the 7th month of the year. That said, it is looking much better out there today for much of the state.
There is still the threat for a shower or storm early today across southern parts of the state, but most of the day looks dry.
Humidity levels will be lower with highs in the 80s.
Sunday’s weather is a little more tricky. There’s the potential for some showers and storms working from west to east across the southern half of the state. The European Model is the most fired up about this potential…
Given how much rain has fallen in these areas, we will have to keep a close eye on this potential.
Next week will bring additional storm chances…
With all the recent severe weather days, I haven’t been able to really focus on where this pattern goes for the rest of the month. Here’s what the CFS model thinks for 5 day temperature trends…
Have a great Saturday and take care.
Hi Chris! First, let me say……Thank you for all you do!!! I love the Kentucky Weather Center.
Now my question. We are having an outdoor wedding for my son on the 23rd of July in Morehead (Lakeview Heights area). Getting nervous about the weather. Can you recommend a longer range weather outlook that I can use to keep an eye on what to expect? I used 2 different apps on my phone and their predictions were completely opposite.
Do you have any insight for the weather then?
Have a wonderful day,
Dawn
Morehead, Ky
Hi Dawn. Thanks so much for the kind words. It’s still a little too far out to get very specific. The forecast apps are nothing more than wild guesses from computer models that will change every few hours. Get back to me in about a week and I will give you some better insight. Take care.
I was wondering what this winter was going to be like due to the “La Nada” and the warm pool of water of the Gulf of Alaska. I heard some suggesting that it was going to be similar to the 59-60 winter. Is there in any truth in that?
